Apple is on a roll lately.

Yuk. 10.5 is fine for me anyway. Apple really drags you along by hook and crook.
i don't want to complain either but making everyone go to catalina seems like an arbitrary condition.Etienne1973 wrote: Fri Nov 13, 2020 12:21 am Logic updates are free since 7 years. So is 10.6. I don't want to complain.
I hear you. I'm working with a Mac mini 2012. Officially supported by Catalina. But no Big Sur for me.dayjob wrote: Fri Nov 13, 2020 12:31 ami don't want to complain either but making everyone go to catalina seems like an arbitrary condition.Etienne1973 wrote: Fri Nov 13, 2020 12:21 am Logic updates are free since 7 years. probably just wait for big sur and skip catalina on my laptop anyways.. my desktop is 2010 mac pro and is stuck on mojave anyways.. unless i want to jump through hoops and force the install using http://dosdude1.com/catalina/
yeah.. i get it. just seems that it's arbitrary for a .x update that is full of fixes. previous update was mojave friendly and wasn't very long ago. I was expecting a break w/Mojave whenever Logic 11 comes around. that's what i get for expecting thingsEtienne1973 wrote: Fri Nov 13, 2020 1:03 amI hear you. I'm working with a Mac mini 2012. On the other hand I can image porting a DAW to a new platform is heavyweight lifting.
Logic developers don't have endless resources to maintain backwards compatibility.
Good idea. I'm going to do that too. Guess I don't have many 32Bit plugins. But 32Bit apps I still love. Eventually I will run a Mojave system for them on a separate HDD. Just in case.dayjob wrote: Fri Nov 13, 2020 1:11 ami guess i need to do a survey of apps/plug ins and figure out what will break if i go to shitalina
Be aware that Catalina doesn't just break 32Bit apps, but also plugins that the developer hasn't certified. There's a workaround, via Terminal (and sometimes security permissions), to get them working, but a real hassle for every plugin that isn't Catalina ready. Found this out the hard way when i finally updated and a lot of my 64Bit plugs weren't working.Etienne1973 wrote: Fri Nov 13, 2020 1:18 amGood idea. I'm going to do that too.
