Tried again today, everything seems fine now (but I could have done without the stress, Steinberg - ditch the damn dongle already).cptgone wrote: Wed Nov 11, 2020 8:16 pmtheir reply:cptgone wrote: Wed Nov 11, 2020 6:11 pm And now I cannot even log in to MySteinberg anymore.
I need a verification code, but I don't get the email containing it.
So I cannot even complain on their forum.
UPDATE: verification code arrived, I put in a support ticket. If a license activation could not be completed successfully or if the previous license appears to be missing, please be patient and wait until the initial peak of requests has decreased. Then use the 'Maintenance' button in the eLicenser Control Center that is installed as a separate application on your system. This should resume interrupted downloads and can recover apparently missing licenses. If the activation code is required in the eLicenser Control Center, please note that you should find it in your MySteinberg account.
Cubase 11 available now

It seems that the problems with the license server are solved. The installation and registration was very easy without any problems and was done in a few seconds.
The difference (as some have already noticed) is that the Download Manager authorizes itself via MySteinberg and you get an access code, which is used to generate the unlock code for the eLicenser. But this all happens inside the download manager, you don't have to do anything but type in the access code you received by mail.
I would say that the overall performance is a bit better. A project that used to use 80% performance in 10.5 is now at something around 60-70%.
I still have a lot to look at like the Spectralayers and the various other improvements. All in all I am very satisfied with the update.

LCC updated this AM and I was able to register my code.
I wasn't in a rush anyways, just tried the update and it went through.
I upgraded from 9.5 to 10.5 in the summer sale and waited until 11 to register.
Most of the updates don't add anything too useful for me, I'm a very basic DAW user, but the new export feature should be nice. I don't like to fall too far behind as the cost goes up too much to upgrade later, it works good to buy and wait 6 months to register for me as I'm already able to do what I want/need and rarely have any Cubase issues/crashes.
I've been using Cubase since the mid 90s and I'm not interested in learning another DAW, although I know I could. I'm comfortable with it and I believe that they all have their quirks and issues that users complain about. I would like to see CPU efficiency improved in Cubase, that'd be my number 1 request, but I'm not really expecting it.

Does it override the previous version installed when one upgrade from older version(9.5) to 11?
If so what's the best way to do a clean install?

It keeps the old version. Probably a good thing in case something goes wrong with an old project in the latest Cubase..... talking of which....satYatunes wrote: Fri Nov 13, 2020 2:40 pm Does it override the previous version installed when one upgrade from older version(9.5) to 11?

Something happened to a RealStrat track in Cubase 11 causing it to play out of key (nothing to do with the new Scale Assistant). The same project in 10.5 worked fine .
I had to create a new RealStrat track and drag over the midi and it worked ok again. I could see no reason why it messed up.
Grum.

I had the same issue. I opened a track that I had done in Cubase 10 track in Cubase 11. In 11, my drum vsti had been transposed with the Scale Correction checked. Idk why, but unchecking that box fixed it.Grumbleweed wrote: Fri Nov 13, 2020 2:54 pm

Does anyone know of any special offers or bonuses from resellers that would make buying the Cubase 11 update from them a bit better than just buying it from Steinberg?
Gonna buy it either way, but if there are any little goodies out there for the taking, why not?
Cheers

Answered above. I always keep both versions installed for a while and save current projects with a new name so I can always revert back if there are problems. Hasn’t happened for a while, but it came in handy a few years ago.satYatunes wrote: Fri Nov 13, 2020 2:40 pm Does it override the previous version installed when one upgrade from older version(9.5) to 11?

Thank you @4damind and @Grumbleweed. Don't have much space on my SSD so I will remove 9.5 manually.

I never finished any project in 9.5 so no need for me to hold on to that. I hope it doesn't break the new version when I remove it. I am still in dilemma whether to upgrade or not. I bought the upgrade when it was on sale and still holding on to it.DMG68 wrote: Fri Nov 13, 2020 5:00 pmAnswered above. Installing the later version, in any case, doesn't touch the earlier versions.
This is the first time I have gone to a next version number from the previous .5, I wasn't cognizant of the fact that we aren't allowed but the single upgraded license, or I will have waited a day or so. My enthusiasm for a new version was never this high (buying something before my morning coffee,
). I got on board at SX1 but have only bought 5 of the subsequent versions.

I actually wasn't thinking about getting a lower price. I was wondering if anyone is giving away a worthwhile freebie with purchase or something along those lines. Like a free plugin or sample pack, etc.ReleaseCandidate wrote: Fri Nov 13, 2020 5:33 pmDepends how long you can wait, normally you pay a bit less at resellers like Thomann or Best Service or Kytary or ...BERFAB wrote: Fri Nov 13, 2020 4:43 pm Does anyone know of any special offers or bonuses from resellers that would make buying the Cubase 11 update from them a bit better than just buying it from Steinberg?
