I there a way to view the notes on each row corresponding to the grid, in the piano roll mode, when placing/entering midi notes. I am entering in notes manually(For drum sampling with DR-005)and find myself constantly entering a note and deleting it, until I find the correct row vertically. I could have sworn that at one time I saw the notes listed vertically in the first column of the grid, but cannot figure out how to get it back to that view. Also since I am entering assignment numbers and not piano notes, I notice at the bottom, the note number does not appear in the "details" box at the bottom for sharps("#") because the "#" pushes the text in the box to the right, beyond view - I can only view note numbers on whole notes(No sharps).

Anyone else experience this - Is there a free VST plugin that works better than the piano roll built in to Tracktion for entering drum notes.

Thanks,
mh

You're zoomed too far out vertically. Also switch the settings of the piano tool such that it is left of the clip, not the track.

The way I got it to work was, I loaded it up like any other VST. :)

To see the notes again you have to zoom in further like Valley sayd. Control-Mousewheel while over the piano roll. Its the fastest way to zoom in and out.

I just started playing with this tonight, along with stepchild, seems to work fine so far. CPU bars hardly even shows up in T, and my systems are far from High tech.
Athlon XP 2.8 (slightly overclocked  )
Asus A7V333
1 GB ram
Win XP pro sp1a

and (notebook)

P4 3.06
512 MB ram
Win XP home

Sorry I can't help more.

And I am using an old crappy Computer:
AMD 900mhz
384 Mgs of RAM
40 gig HD

I will upgrade as I go - I need a cheap but good soundcard that has all the audio/ digital inputs (Any thoughts?)

Dr-005 seems simple to use but I can't seem to find many good banks out there - I am looking for rock / Alternative sounds and only found 2 on this site, but nowhere else on the net.

I will try Stepchild though, as I don't really like the one built-in to Tracktion for drum work.
What I love about Tracktion is that it is somewhat simple and seems to work good on even older comouters, unlike Cakewalk, and Cubase. I do wish the tutorials were more detailed, but I have all of you folks to help.

by the way, I bought a brand new copy of Tracktion for $32.99 through the HEAR/House Ear nonprofit auctions as mentioned elsewhere on this forum. My daughter is deaf, and goes to House Ear, so I am well aware that it is a reputable organization from direct experience, so I believe its a legit deal (Just ordered it, but have not got it yet).
