Why are some person so aggressive when some people ask "bread + butter"? Why not just answer nicely or no answer if you don't like bread + butter? I don't understand this, now this thread is turning to fight "no you don't need bread + butter" and very aggressive style, not frienly or help!
My advice: when some one ask something you think is not importnt for you, you DO NOT need to answer or no need to be aggresiive.Thank you!
Now concentrate to help people and talk about this instrument. Not fight if bread + butter is important or no!
ANSWER: Some maybe think Vital look interesting, easy to use and hope it can make bread + butter. Yes some other synth can make bread+butter but maybe they are not so easy to use? Or maybe they are too expensive? Or maybe people just want to use Vital for some other reason for bread + butter, that is OK! It is not away from anyone!!!! STop the silly fight!

I purchased Vital yesterday. If by bread and butter you mean simple Moog and Oberheim sounds then yes Vital is a race car.Sinisterbr wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 6:10 pm Sure, but you're assuming your analogy is perfect (Vital=Racing car). Is it right, though? Isn't it too early to make that assumption? Have you already tried it? Maybe Vital is more like a great all-around SUV, using your analogy again. That's what I'm trying to find out.
If anyone can look at Vital's specs, spend even a few minutes watching videos and then want it for simple analog sounds then I think they have completely missed the point.
Yes it's got Saw waves and Low Pass Filters so if your definition of bread and butter is simple analog sounds it can do those although that's not what I'm going to use it for.
I wouldn't use a screwdriver to drive in a nail either I'd use a hammer.
At any rate it's only $20 now or just wait for the free version and make up your own mind.

Because at least four ppl including myself have asked him to describe what bread and butter means to him... The closest he came to doing so was one post that says stuff like is in Massive X.... Massive X is very diverse. We still don't know what he is asking for.SoundHunterrr wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 6:50 pm Why are some person so aggressive when some people ask "bread + butter"? The LEAST he can do is give us a better description of what he means or simply wait till the 24th and find out for himself.
That is why.

Interesting..zvenx wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 6:09 pmI would imagine yes. My only issues with them were all except 2 do not respond to modwheel (and none afaik to after touch).bmanic wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 5:48 pm I've got a question to you guys who bought it through the Inthemix promotion.
Are the 'Inthemix' presets the kind people actually pay for? I'm a bit out of the loop when it comes to commercial preset banks but as I'm seriously considering entering that game myself, I'm trying to learn what the expectations are from the community.
But beyond that, if they were for sale I would probably purchase them. They are very unlike what is currently in the factory bank of Vital at the moment imho.

The Vital stereo engine is just awesome.
Great stereo image controls and more, a must try!
( stereo modulator can offset filters freq...)
The spread knob can be switched to rotate mode.
With all the unison detune types, some amazing things can be done.
I really love the spectral random amplitude too. So deep.
About bread and butter, you can do it for sure: 3 oscillators, 2 filters with a lot of different flavors, lot of envelopes, lfo's, random, recursive modulation, Mpe.. what else... for classic sounds, it should be enough.
The modulation curves are powerful too.

First of all there is no real definition of "bread and butter". It can mean different sounds for different people. Complex gated unison sounds are bread and butter in my compositions.SoundHunterrr wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 6:50 pm Why are some person so aggressive when some people ask "bread + butter"? But if someone's definition of bread and butter sounds are simple Moog and Oberheim sounds then the answer is yes it can do those sounds but is not the right tool for those sounds. It's capable of much more complex modern sounds which is why I gave my super car analogy.

People many time say Serum sound very cold and no spirit. And I also did think it when I first time listen the factory sounds. I think no I do not like Serum sound, very much too cold. But after watching tutorial videos I learn Serum can be VERY good sounding instrument (you can make brass sound, you can make super saw, you can make old school house bass, you can make plucks etc etc).
So is Vital same way? You first think "very cold sound" but in reality it can make much more different sounds? I think in many places it is said Vital is update version to Serum that why I say the comprision to Serum.
I am not sound designer so I wait for tutorial videos I can learn.

I wish we had even more control over the stereo field. I'd love to how a per oscillator mid/side splitting thing, or just a 0 to 200% width control, per voice. That would allow us to easily "pulse" various stereo positions with modulators. As it is now, you can sort of do it but it requires tons of extra modulations.Whywhy wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 6:57 pm The Vital stereo engine is just awesome.

Funny thing is, the Vital modulation system is very similar to FabFilter Twin2 which makes it feel right at home for me. I can even recreate some of my presets from Twin2 to Vital quite easily. Twin has some unique features in it's filters and how it splits stuff into stereo there but then again Vital has even more unique settings.
I'm finding a few bugs here though.. sometimes it absolutely refuses to let me modulate a modulator.
Anybody know if the manual is available yet? How deep those the modulation system allow you to go? Can I go 3 or 4 times deep into the modulation chain? A modulator modulating a modulator that is in turn modulated by a modulator etc?? FabFilter Twin 2 has no limit to the amount of depth here, only limit is 64 total modulation connections.

You could try to mod the amount in the matrix, it should works.bmanic wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 7:04 pmI wish we had even more control over the stereo field. Maximum of 64 matrix slots ,like in Twins 2.
Thanks for reminding me about Twins 2, a fantastic synth !

I was trying to figure out a way to route the Mod Wheel to LFO for Vibrato but didn't see an obvious way.zvenx wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 6:09 pm My only issues with them were all except 2 do not respond to modwheel (and none afaik to after touch).
There's no LFO Amount as a Mod Matrix Destination. I'm sure there is a simple way to do it but not immediately apparent as to how. Access to the manual would help.
To be honest while I'm a huge fan of the In The Mix guy and have enjoyed many of his videos I was disappointed in his Vital patches. Just my opinion.
