How I can create the intro synth pad from Where The Streets Have No Name by U2?

Hi. I am new to Sound Design and I am using the Arturia DX7 and I'm trying to emulate the pad that sounds in the intro of WTSHNN by U2. Does anybody have it in a preset or any tutorial to get that sound? Thank you very much.

I think its some kind of church organ. I dont use DX7 (not good at phase/FM modulation).
Maybe do a preset search on "church", that should keep you on the right path.
If you are new to sound design maybe you should start with subtractive synthesis, easier to grasp imho.

Here is a go in SERUM.
Its basically just a sine and a pulse, with loads of reverb.

You can do this in just about any synth with multiple oscs
2 that come to mind are
Surge and T-Force Alpha Plus 2 have 3 oscs and I like T-force's unison
but even 2 instances on Synth1 or charlatan will do too.

Oh and I did the $10 per month deal from last month on on Splice.
I'm late to the game myself but If you're really gonna use a synth a lot and want 1 main synth that can do just about everything then why not

I have Surge but maybe I could try it with Odin2. The difficulty is understanding what was being done to the basic waves.CHOOS wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 7:56 pmYou can do this in just about any synth with multiple oscs

Many people say Serum's basic sound character would be cold and sterile. Well, on the cleaner side maybe but can also be warm and rich like this video proves.

I made the patch in serum because its a very visual synth, a pretty clear interface.

That wasn't remotely cold and sterile, in fact I thought it was really beautiful and warm sounding but also very clean. I think Surge comes close in that regard. I think I'll play more with Surge.Etienne1973 wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 8:15 pmMany people say Serum's basic sound character would be cold and sterile. The 2 osc is pretty "limiting" But what a vstCHOOS wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 7:58 pm Oh and I did the $10 per month deal from last month on on Splice.

I have a subscription plan for that, I bought serum ages ago

I agree but I've been using free synths forever to show others who might not be able to afford paid vst's how you can make 95%+ of sounds that sound close enough on the simplest of synths.
But because I do plan on making more tuts on YT etc I thought (as was suggested by others) that having Serum in the thumbnail and title will help with views.
So why not.
I do have FATHOM vst which is modular but I think that I havent had an issue with not enough osc's yet especially since the Sub osc can be used AND the noise one can be replaced with wavs etc.
But phaseplant is pretty sweet too.
