I'm bit afraid to post some criticism between all that hype-commentsTannaliini wrote: Tue Nov 17, 2020 3:42 pm Can anybody make & post some softer sounds made with Vital? Some people might say that Vital has it's own sound, or that it's proudly digital, but even in the upper parts of the spectrum it sometimes can sound a bit metallic or resonating, which is a bit unusual. BUT dont get me wrong! Vital has other strengths. It's an extremly flexible playground and can do stuff that no other synth can do. I will use it for fx sounds, sequenced stuff, plucks and maybe pads and atmos ... or it will collect dust in my plugin folder

When it's hyped/marketed as being a "Serum killer" you can expect that ppl will compare the twobmanic wrote: Tue Nov 17, 2020 3:39 pmWhy does everybody think it's trying to "imitate" some specific synth? It's not like Serum is unique or anything. Heck it wasn't even remotely "the first" when it comes to wave tables.dionenoid wrote: Tue Nov 17, 2020 1:29 pm I bought the early access, and after a few days of playing with it i can only confirm your thoughts. It is a fun synth to program, but soundwise it really doesn't hold up to the synths it's trying to imitate.

The "Vital, Serum Killer?" thread is deleted, so no way to find out who used the term for the first time. But I don't think it was some kind of marketing, rather a joke...

Vital has certainly a quite different, or own character, what was to be expected, because of it's spectral waveshaping capabilities. i like that character, that is why i bought the early access, to support the developer and of course to work with it already.audiot wrote: Tue Nov 17, 2020 6:32 pmI'm bit afraid to post some criticism between all that hype-commentsTannaliini wrote: Tue Nov 17, 2020 3:42 pm Can anybody make & post some softer sounds made with Vital? but Vital is not the synth you want to use for warm or analogish sounds. There are wavetable synths that sound a lot better in that department (Hive, Zebra and even Serum).
Some people might say that Vital has it's own sound, or that it's proudly digital, but even in the upper parts of the spectrum it sometimes can sound a bit metallic or resonating, which is a bit unusual. i don't have serum, the "serum killer" (this i use ironically, yes, because it is KVR, but still KVR is a good place to be, if you skip some posts... as always..) i have is vast dynamics vaporizer2, i think the sound of vaporizer2 is on par with serum, still different beasts, but both are beasts.. (so i never say this one is better or worse, it depends on so many factors..)
Vital has it's own character, why always look for the serum killer, for the price? or even compare it, that is better or worse, it works differently than the other wavetable synths you mention.
but perhaps comparing them is also a way to learn what is special about a soft synth, it can have it's merits, of course.
is it hyped or marketed as a serum killer?dionenoid wrote: Tue Nov 17, 2020 6:44 pmWhen it's hyped/marketed as being a "Serum killer" you can expect that ppl will compare the twobmanic wrote: Tue Nov 17, 2020 3:39 pmWhy does everybody think it's trying to "imitate" some specific synth? EDIT: it isn't hyped, i see, i write slow and long....
it is in a quite different ballpark, as i mentioned already in this post. it has it's own character. that is why i like it.
in a strange way, i own 10 or more wavetable synths (or synths that have wavetable modules, like MSoundFactory, or voltage modular..), i was never that fond of them, until pigments... (yes waves codex i liked, and still like, yes waves codex!). because bitwig added a wavetable oscillator (that i only use in the poly grid), and ableton live 10 suite has a wavetable synth, my collection grew... now with vital... all have their merits..
i had not a lot of time to make a preset with vital (i like to make my own presets, and even my own wavetables), but with one of factory wavetables, i could hear, why i bought it, and i expected this sound, which i like.
there was also something about bread and butter... of course if you load a serum (or serum like) wavetable, that is quite analog, you get close i think, but i have the feeling, that isn't the purpose of vital. (but as always, even more experimental synths, i mention unfiltered audio LION, you can make with LION normal sounding sounds, but why? should you do that? o well i am not a judge, do it! of course! i am talking to myself
so, my own short experience, next days or weeks, i will have more time to play with it, i really like vital. the MPE implementation is great (important for me nowadays).
i like, my opinion, my assessment, personal assessment; i like vital. the metallic sound, which belongs to these kind of "waveshaping", and of course it is always connected to what you want, and what kind of music you make, i make, this synth will have a place in my music, how i make music, and how it sounds.

it's the other synths that wind up dead, if vital is the killerliquidsound wrote: Tue Nov 17, 2020 7:22 pm Killer?...

what i am liking about vital (so far) is, it's inspiring me to make music, the thing i most want from a synth plugin.

I love the fact that an underground synth from a developer few had heard of with zero publicity or marketing and 1 thread on KVR is 'hyped'

it's great to find something that merits this much discussion, as vital does...

I am really excited, this looking like Serum on Steroids, I mean 3 OSC + Noise OSC, 3 filters, I am really looking forward to this synth, the unison section is really OP.
