Why anyone would like to have a dead synth in their folder... :scared:
it's the other synths that wind up dead, if vital is the killer :dog:
That's my point :dog: :hihi:

Seriously, I'm making my presets for the past two days and this is the only synth I'm using, for evaluation purpose of course, and it's really growing on me.

does the 'check for updates' button work for anyone?
When I click it nothing happens.

No offense! There are even people who like the PPG sound ... for whatever reason   But why does the developer call the filter sections "Analog" and "Ladder"? People will associate a certain sound to it, and Vitals filters are definitly not in same league as U-he, TAL, NI and a few others. Even Serums filter modes sound more analog. Turn up resonance to the maximum, go thru the spectrum and you'll hear it ... or better said: you will not hear it. Maybe someone should contact the dev and ask him to rename the filter sections - i find the names a bit unfortunate

I definitely fully disagree with you that the Serum filters sound more 'analog'.

But to each their own.

why not the standard filters? perhaps, like DS thorn, special filters, but still, thorn has also a normal filter, spectral on spectral is a bit much.

i shall check the resonance, didn't play with the filters yet.

PPG i don't have, yet. waldorf largo i have, and me like...

Well this synth takes Serum off my radar. I tried the Serum demo and didn't think much of it and it didn't inspire me to do much. The only thing it had that I didn't have in a good and easy way was wavetable editing. Vital seems to have all I would need for that, plus everything I wanted for a beginner synth. It makes learning, exploring, and creating music easy and inspiring. The fact that it is multi featured and deep as well is a plus.

All I learn from here will help me to be comfortable using all the other synths I have. So this is a winner for me and it doesn't even have to be a monster synth or a synth to end all synths. It's what I will use if I want to quickly make a synth sound or generate ideas. For deep advanced rich monster synthesis, that's what Falcon is for. So I am covered. :p

There's no such thing as a bad anchovie :uhuhuh:

Man, the folks that can hear a difference between Serum and Vital have better ears than I do. When I load up the same wavetable in both, apply the same filter settings, apply the same LFO to the WT position and filter cutoff, and then level match them, I can't hear any difference between Serum and Vital. Even overlaying them in a spectrum analyzer the traces look the same.

right, but who stops there? where you can go from a basic waveform is the thing... isn't it? otherwise, with every synth, (in theory) a sawtooth is a sawtooth is a... etc. but what happens next?

I'm sure there will be Skins in the future or Color choices.
It is a little too slow to open though...
