Somebody said something about extra LFOs and stuff, too, which I neither need nor want, so I will happily wait until the 24th to get the version I want. After all, I've not heard anything in the sound that makes me think I actually need it. It just sounds like yet another wavetable synth to me. From the description I thought it might be more like Thorn but it sounds a lot like ANA 2 to me.

It's all there. The $20 is the same as the others in terms of features.BONES wrote: Wed Nov 18, 2020 5:28 am Somebody said something about extra LFOs and stuff, too, which I neither need nor want, so I will happily wait until the 24th to get the version I want. 6 Envelopes and 8 LFO which they get added as you use them as in Serum

Vital has solid control of the MPE curves too. Easy to make nuanced modulation for playing.zerocrossing wrote: Wed Nov 18, 2020 5:14 am I bought it. They had me at MPE. I look at it as $20 to make my Rise 49 even more useful. I’m happy to help out a developer who’s interested in making instruments with those types of features.

How do you know that? Do you have access to all of them? Admittedly I can't find anything on the site to confirm what was said here but I'm in no hurry and the worst that can happen is I might have to pay $25 instead of $20. Hardly the end of the world.liquidsound wrote: Wed Nov 18, 2020 5:34 amIt's all there. The $20 is the same as the others in terms of features.

I was watching a run through video just now and it does look pretty cool. Visually it's not a million miles away from Phaseplant and the way it greys out unused oscillators and filters gives it a similar modular vibe.

True. I haven't tested it, but i don't think it needs countless clicks in dozens of convoluted sub menus to achieve things, so terrible GUI doesn't seem to apply.
Regarding the esthetics: i personally think it isn't the most awesome looking thing ever, but it is also far from awful looking. So in short: good, but maybe not orgasm inducing looking.
And TBH, i haven't seen (m)any GUI that achieved the latter.
A fluid workflow is far more important than some “perfect eye candy“ looking GUI that either is pretty limited in functions, or convoluted to use anyway.

This is pretty much how I feel about the GUI. In my very subjective opinion, Serum has a nicer looking interface but Vital has a significantly better functioning interface. Stuff that is tedious in Serum isn't in Vital and visibility is way better overall. You don't have to tab between the matrix and modulation sources to adjust parameters and you can see all active modulations per target and setup 'via routing' with drag and drop. Considerations like this personally count for a lot more than how aesthetically pleasing the GUI is or not. It's not like it's a complete mess either.FapFilter wrote: Wed Nov 18, 2020 9:34 am True. I bought the plus version. TTS & Wavetable editor got me hooked. Tried it yesterday:
1) Gui is on point! Anination great, clean layout, resizable. Awesome!
2) Sound quality is good, but not top of its class (yet). I compared it with Falcon, Serum, MX and those sound superior. I would put Vital into the sound class / league of Synthmaster, Phase Plant and Spire. But everybody got a different taste.
3) The presets of the plus package aren't too great. I believe, with different presets, it would be a completely different first impression. So before making up your mind, create your own presets first, to see what Vital can do for you.
Conclusion: If you don't own Falcon, Serum, MX or an equivalent Synth VST - Vital is a reeeeaaally great synth. And for free or 25 bucks, its a no brainer to support this amazing programmer.

I think it sounds a lot better than Falcon and Serum.
I think everything sounds better than falcon though.
