In defense of Tracktion

I read a bunch here on the various gripes about Tracktion, and yes, many are valid points. But I'd like to relate a recent experience I've had in thinking about switching away to Logic Express 7.
I start to look at the multiple windows, confusing mixers, system requirements, nightmares, missing features (no markers at all in LE7!) and I go back to Tracktion. Even GarageBand (I'm a Mac guy) doesn't work to well on my PoweBook G4. Just a few tracks and I get problems. Tracktion handles many tracks, no problem.
So much of the interface just plain works better. Even with my educational pricing on Logic Express ($150) I just can't make the move. Even with the nice samples and effects it has. I found a decent VSTi soundfont player for Mac and I'm done. Can't wait for the fixes in T2 (punch in!), but for now I'm back solid in Tracktion land. Jules just seems to understand how to make this a computer based recorder, and not a bastard imitation of a mixing console.
Mo better!

I'm with you. Would not even CONSIDER going back to Cubase.
Buy Darling Sister's new album "Rise and fall" now! Just send a pm or an email. Visit our myspace page on www.myspace.com/darlingsister for songsamples.

Agreed.
After reading a few reviews I loaded up the demos of Live4 and Sonar4 (no, didn't bother with the latest Cubase...
).
Bit of a culture shock, forgotten how 'Windows' Sonar is and failed (yet again...) to see what's so special about Live (good audio engine maybe but hardly intuitive).
I may play with a few other hosts for creative purposes (fx. Audiomulch) but my main app is going to be Tracktion for a far old while I reckon.

Gotta agree with everything said. Especially regarding Live. If you're a DJ-type, I can understand the appeal, I guess. I'm not, and I don't. I just don't get what's making people freak out so much.
Sonar4 looks to be the best of the bunch for traditional sequencers.
But it's still a traditional sequencer. Thankfully, Tracktion is NOT.
