I understand the AAS stuff not getting updated for mpe, but they made operator, it was their flagship forever. Weird omission.

Who knows... it's been around for a long time and may have some old code that makes multi-midi channel support difficult... or it will be MPE compatible before 11 officially launches cause they just didn't quite finish it for the announcement.

Post

ableton's AAS stuff is equivalent of their old stand alone discontinued ver.1 VST. Some of them are already ver.3 like Chromaphone. So their priority would be their flagship products.

Whilst it’s true that a lot of the AAS stuff is now on V3: it really hast changed much! It’s mainly GUI updates and a couple of layers (easy achieved in instrument racks). They have updated the GUI on some of the AAS stuff, I see no reason why they won’t be able to add some sort of NPE mod matrix even if it’s not full MPE.
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

[speculation]

For the same reason that they have hardly touched the DSP code of the plugins for years. If they were able to add a mod matrix, I suspect they would have done it for their own synths by now.

They have done it for some of their own synths- The WT Synth has a MPE Mod Matrix so they have the model top roll out! Sampler just has MPE destination allocation. WT, Simpler and Sampler are all MPE.

Collision has a midi 'tab' that is very similar to Sampler, so they should be able to add some MPE destinations quite easily like 'slide' even if they cant add full poly aftertouch. Until then the 'MPE' control in midi effects lets me add a bit more expression from my Roli to any instrument (at lest I can map slide etc)

They didn't make operator. It's an ableton made synth but the concept by Robert Henke 'monolake'. You probably meant Analog.

Edit: I think I misread you. carry on! :)

No I meant operator. The engine was coded at Ableton itself, even if the concept came from a henke synth (from MaxMSP maybe like all of Live came from his concepts in MaxMSP). Analog is AAS ultra analog wrapped in an Ableton device.

Post

Yeah sorry, I misread you (changed it but you were faster). Exactly what you said about max/msp prototyping.

Cheers.

Since the AAS code is licenced, maybe they don’t have the rights to modify it? I do hope they update Operator with MPE and an expanded view like Wavetable.

By they I meant AAS...

Post

Ahh- yes, got you now -as I said in the first post, AAS haven't really added very much at all in the last 5 years, just GUI updates and layering really, nothing substantial (I was really hoping CHROMAPHONE 3 would get MPE)...but if Ableton were motivated to be fully MPE with all suite instruments they may get it done. ...maybe they are working on it together in the background ;-)

Live added Comping and MPE- NOTHING will surprise me now :D
