I have all of the mentioned synths above, and a couple more, including Avenger, Icarus 2, Rapid, Codex. To me Vital is another toy to play with, which gives more inspiration. It sounds really nice, is straight forward to program, and has a few features you might not see in all the mentioned synths.HTT wrote: Thu Nov 19, 2020 11:43 pm What makes Vital worthy of purchase when compared to Serum, Sylenth, Hive, Anima, Pigments, etc.? From the YouTube videos it is nothing that hasn't been covered for years. The price is nice, though.

I disagree. I have Serum, Pigments, and you forgot a couple other synths that have overlap with Vital (for me that's Phase Plant and Surge). The Vital wavetable editor and morphing modes are superior to those, stereo LFOs and randomness is really exciting (a bit like UVI Shade, but in the synth and not just for filters), the visual feedback is amazing.HTT wrote: Fri Nov 20, 2020 12:37 amFrom the videos I have seen, Vital is completely and totally underwhelming for anyone that already has any of the following: Serum/Sylenth/Hive 2/Anima/Pigments/ANA 2/Falcon.
TTWT is a really fun and surprisingly versatile feature (and sounds awesome, so much better than Serum's), the unison modes are more extensive than I've seen elsewhere (though Phase Plant now has very interesting ones since 1.8.5, too), there's three wavetable oscillators and not just two like in Serum / Pigments. FM with quantized randomness of operators is fun.
It is definitely inspired by other synths, like all plugins are. The UI at first looks close-ish to the UI of Serum (with the tabs and the modulation matrix), but it brings in some great features from Pigments that I always wish Serum had when I use it (alongside the new features from above). There's also audio rate modulation with key tracking LFOs etc., with an interface more focused on wavetables.
There's lots of stuff, and lots of combinations of previously known stuff that can now be used together in one synth. Going with a new UI that leads experimentation and sound design in different directions because it makes different things easier than other UIs.
But if none of these are exciting to you, then that's fine. Just speak for yourself and don't claim to see some objective truth just from a couple videos
To me, this basically replaces Serum, and lives happily alongside Phase Plant.

Arp Preset with 1 wavetable with some random modulations that creates all the tonal variations. Single wave, no wavetable scanning. The FM sounds good.
