is there no UAD hardware deal this year or will it be later in their 12 days promotion? I remember last year every day had a new deal but this year it seems its just all reduced for 12 days duration...

There was a major fire that has affected production involving certain chips, some of which UAD cards were reliant on. So UAD had to pull the deal early but will likely resume them later.

From UAD forum this is UAD rep info:
"We ended them early due to events impacting the entire pro audio industry, namely a fire at a chip plant in Japan. We did this as a precaution, and already have solid plans in place to deal with things long term"

Also, regarding the Black Friday UAD sale, its fairly disappointing as no coupon has been offered to get people over the line. Its an odd sale too as there are some products that haven't been offered in the sale which is unusual for UAD, especially as some of their own releases (oldies in there too) are not included in the sale. Im going to wait and see what xmas sales bring, they've had some extra hidden coupons in the past that just sweetened the purchases even more. We'll see if they do it again.

Any opinions on the Kilohertz mixing plugins? I greatly prefer something software ass software interfaces to ones that try to look like hardware units but FabFilter is a bit pricey for me. Would you say their filters are an upgrade to DAW stock options?

Yes thats the one. Apparently it will set off shortages in supply that will be felt next year. Worse things have happened but if in doubt just buy what you may have been planning because stocks can suddenly be unavailable (or perhaps prices will go up for those components)

So now Vital is a $20 monster, is Kilohearts Phase Plant worth it or redundant?

I’d love peoples comparison on the 2, given the huge price difference and similar features.

Wondering exactly the same as I ponder about Phase Plant ($$$), Pigments ($$)...

phase plant is a total different workflow. and you can add more oscillators. and its been released for years ago.
Every new plugin like vital will have bugs, so 'older' plugins like phase plant are better. and you can know many things from phase plant, but you don't know how well vital behaves in your environment. on nov24 get the demo, and you'll see. there are many differences.

Vital is Competitive with a capital "C". The modulation possibilities are top notch. I just made a 5 voice unison pad patch with a slow sweeping filter, and a gradual wave-table sweep. Pretty normal stuff. Then I added a 16 second reverb and multi-band-comp, and an eq. Pretty cool but not amazing. Then I added a high shelf eq with an LFO to modulate the gain in a sine-wave pulsing fashion. Then I had another LFO modulate the speed of the first LFO so the pulsing was fluttering faster and slower. Then I added a HPF to truncate the lows at around 500hz. Then I added another LFO with a slow heartbeat kind of double-pulse that modulated the cutoff frequency of the filter to add the lows back in every few bars. This was possible due to a long custom multipoint LFO shape. Then I tweaked the multiband comp to add some thunder to the bass pulse. To cap it off, I threw in a 10 voice chorus... All of these features, by the way have visual animations so you can see as well as hear the modulations. After all that, I still have 2 envelopes, a 5th LFO, 2 randomizers and 4 macros for modulation, an extra filter, 2 unused oscillators, and a Sampler!

It's killer. I particularly like the ability to modulate effects parameters.
