Qkimat wrote: Sat Nov 21, 2020 10:20 am Dear artists, mixers, producers and deal hunters, is there any good compressors on sale this BF? I'm looking for something that won't break the bank ($30 or something), and I found the Material Comp. I've tried it, and its ok. Is there anything on sale right now worth getting? I have PSP FetPressor already, so I'm looking for something less FET focused. Any advice?
The Voxengo Marquis compressor is highly regarded from what I gather, it's 30% off atm which brings it to around 40 bucks. I'm seriously considering it myself.

Anyone got the traveller series violins/fiddles from Red Room Audio? How do they compare with Joshua bell violin seeing as I already own that one?

So Analog Lab lite to V7 is €200, does anyone know how much discount you get when you get one synth and then upgrade?

Quite cheap and nice quality, maybe there’s something in there for you?
Cheap is an understatement!
If none of these appeal to someone in the market for Compression its not a Compressor that you need

I've tried KH-COMP1, and Black/Blueface comps. As much as the Black/Blueface seemed clunky and didn't sound right for the job (tested on drums and guitar), KH-COMP1 was versatile enough and sounded amazing. This might just be what I was looking for. Thanks!
Now I need to do a deeper comparison between that, and Material Comp. Both sound really good, though. The Rooster one can sound a bit snappier from my initial tests.

Have you tried the Klanghelm compressors?
Not sure if they have trial versions, but there are cut down freeware versions on their site.

I’d love peoples comparison on the 2, given the huge price difference and similar features.
I had similar concerns, but decided to buy PhasePlant. I've been using it today and I'd say that the modular routing makes it very different, and the visual feedback means it's almost like an educational tool in showing exactly how processing effects the waveform. But I think that without Multipass its functionality would be seriously compromised, and Multipass doesn't come with the Pro bundle. With Multipass you can dial things in with precision, e.g. limit chorus on a bass to a specific frequency band in order to avoid muddying up the sound... the sort of fine tweaking that isn't possible with synths with a simpler architecture. And you can also create modular FX... so whilst expensive it does offer a lot. It's not perfect, the filters are of a basic, digital type, but combined with the excellent distortion you still have a lot of control of the flavour. The filter types in Vital offer a lot that PhasePlant lacks.

I think Phase Plant is really solid and quite unique and just tons of fun. I agree with Multipass adding a lot of value, but I think you still get a TON of mileage out of the Pro bundle. There is a lot you can do by "just" loading SnapHeap into the fx section, like building really interesting custom delays, reverbs, etc. that might be a bit bland using only the snap ins on their own.

I would like to see some additional filter and maybe some other fx in the generator section as well. However a really awesome feature of Phase Plant that I don't see discussed too much is that you can turn on the Polyphony of each individual fx lane to have per-voice fx. And considering that, there is a comb, ladder and formant filter and you can build your own using Slice EQ with crazy modulation. Slice EQ is not part of the Pro bundle but currently free in one of those magazines.

There will be more features added, looking forward to what's next. Last one was the unison section and that's really solid.

re phaseplant and filters - don't forget the current computer music mag's free Slice EQ offer. That can be used as a snapin inside phaseplant and has an offset/transpose for the entire eq curve which can be modulated, so it can act as a custom filter. If you click "poly" at the top of the effects lane, that gives per-voice filtering rather than global.

Damn, completely forgot about this one. I have their SDRR, and its great.
I once "demoed" (there's no official demo versions) their DC8C, and was straight up intimidated by this thing.
Upon testing now... I've decided to pull the trigger. Maybe I'll get one of the Black Rooster plugs too. They sound nice, and the prices are great at the moment.

This one costs a little more, and I don't think he really does BF deals - but it's well worth checking out
