Laptops are an issue with DAW's, especially if they are below full HD resolution. My experience is that if you're using 1366x768 for example, the user experience isn't very good, because there's stuff that is cut off, the inspector won't show everything in Studio One for example, and, there's obviously not a lot of tracks you can see at the same time. Full HD works, barely, when you're scaling at 125%.

Yes but at least can see a lot more on Studio One Inspector without doing much closing opening.chk071 wrote: Sun Nov 22, 2020 11:18 am Laptops are an issue with DAW's, especially if they are below full HD resolution. Yeah. There shouldn't be added much more though, otherwise there'll be stuff which can't be displayed... the best would be to have columns which expand or rollin when you click on them, and a scroll bar when everything is expanded and the space isn't sufficient.

Having worked on a track in Cubase 11 this afternoon I've got to say that it is a lot more liable to crash to the desktop than the previous iteration.
Something simple like deleting a backup version or "untitled" file when looking to open an existing project from within Cubase will take it out, but it never used to bother it before.
I'm a little disappointed.
Grum.

I would suggest that you start up in safe mode and see if it happens then. If it doesn't then some (most likely your default.xml) preference file may be corrupted. If it still happens, then indeed seems like a bug.

Also after a crash, sometimes the subsequent startup may have useful information why it crashed. For instance if it is an errant plugin, it will name it when you restart after a crash.

The way it works here - MacBook Pro 16,1 16" - showing the MIDI Fader in Inspector hides the other slots, which is true regarding every slot: ____________________________________________________ozinga wrote: Sun Nov 22, 2020 10:56 am Its their business but Steinberg should realize that there are laptop users too.
The Inspector is a pain to use on a laptop. For example open the Inserts drawer and Fader and can not see both at the same time because for whatever reason there are 10s of empty insert slots taking up the whole space.
Can't tell what 'Fader can't see both at the same time' means, but there is no trouble at all just from this being a laptop.
I haven't seen it on a desktop/tower in over a decade, this was never an issue on my 13" jobs either.

Sometimes I think people don't want to understand on purpose here just to defend their beloved software.
To me it was perfectly clear what and how he meant it and I agree.

My first session with it, it crashed [several times] from basically nothing. I started the project again in C10.5, a couple days later I tried 11 again and have not had a crash in several sessions.

"Inspector is a pain on a laptop" is not true here, it is not a unique behavior from v11 AFAICT. As you can see, I'm pointing out above what are to me are flaws which I don't enjoy either, so your story about what I'm doing is clearly some bullshit anyway. And you can see me trying to make sense of 'Fader can not see...' by the fact of what I did.
Check yourself on trying to understand someone, that's deliberately trying not to. Bad hair day? Sorry 'bout that.

Can't tell what 'Fader can't see both at the same time' means,
Where did I write ''fader can not see'' ? or ''Fader can't see''?
This is what I wrote
Which means I want to see Fader and Inserts at the same time but it is not possible on a laptop because of the 10s of empty slots, there is no space left for the Fader. I thought that was clear.ozinga wrote: Sun Nov 22, 2020 10:56 am For example open the Inserts drawer and Fader and can not see both at the same time because for whatever reason there are 10s of empty insert slots taking up the whole space.

Ok, no, that wasn't clear to me. It doesn't do that here. You indicated something I don't recognize with a construction that was baffling. "open the Inserts drawer and Fader and can not see both at the same time" - You mean *you* can not see both; the subject of the sentence is "I" but it's not written there.
It was early in my day, sorry.
In your image, the Inspector won't "see" both Fader and the Inserts at the same time. Fader doesn't have anything to see; so I looked at it and illustrated the look here.
And just as I illustrated for a MIDI track, for an audio or an instrument channel if I click on Inserts, Fader is hidden.

So it's a weird difference we're looking at, baffles me anyway. If I saw what you saw, I would feel the same! But we're sorted is the main thing.

I assume you know you can change the order of what shows and set some to always be open. But Indeed I can see the advantage of them side by side if you want to work that way. (For inserts and faders I use the actual mixer)

I see you use one section at a time. So this is not a problem for you.
Yes if you click on any part, the others are collapsed but if you use command click(Mac) on the second section you keep the first one open. So you can have both sections open (for example inserts and sends-check the attached picture)at the same time. You can even open up more. You can even pin the open state so they do not close, when you click something else, although it is broken for instrument tracks. So what I say is; I want to see the Fader, Inserts and Sends at the same time but because of the empty slots of inserts and sends taking up the whole space, I can not do it in Cubase Inspector.
