So it seems the discounted EZdrummer doesn't include a free EZX. Does anyone know if you buy from reseller and register it later when the promo is back, do you get the free EZX?

Don't know the answer to that, but I think the core EZdrummer product comes with a good number of drum samples. You just won't have anything particularly genre specific. Even the free EZdrummer lite package from days of yore came with the 'cocktail kit'.

I do know that free EZX is not included during the EZD sale right now, but would be good to know about the second question about registering it later and getting the free EZX. It seems unlikely for this year though, because the promos will be running until end of this year.

That said, some EZXs are available for cheap, $19. Looks like there will be some rotation of what's going this low, so that could be one option right now.

Do you find yourself using just the MIDI arrangement from EZD song creator and then using it for other drum samples, etc.? Because if I don't have any EZX packs, the kits/sounds are very limited and one may find it useful to use the grooves with external drum samples. Of course, can get a bit tricky to work this way, but it's a possibility nonetheless.

EZD is the cheapest option for me right now and adds a little bit to the workflow. Not super essential, but something I can at least give a try.

Sure you can do that, but as SD3 has the best (authentic) drum sounds I have and the grooves I have with it are geared towards 'real' drum sounds rather than electronic ones I tend to just use them inside there. I have had a magpie tendency when it comes to drum synths (I am trying to stop buying them) and find the best patterns for electronic drums are in things like the UVI products (Drum Designer and BeatBox Anthology) and some good ones come with XO too.

One thing I'd recommend if you want to load up on MIDI grooves is to check out groovemonkee

you get loads more patterns for the money than you get from EZ MIDI expansions which I don't rate as good value. With the BF sales they're half price now too.

I get the tendency to get into a mode where you start buying same category of products from different companies and I want to avoid that. Price of SD3 is actually helping me here. And yes, I love the sounds and patterns in XO - the factory library is definitely well curated.

groovemonkee looks great, so many genres there. Thanks. I am surely not going to spend on any Toontrack MIDI Expansions. EZD and perhaps a couple EZX in future, that's it.

I get your point but at this stage with virtually every post there getting savaged by thumbs down (and quite a few, but generally fewer, thumbs up too) I think a lot of posters got far too precious about what that thread should be like with too many potential rules and regs.

It's a thread for bargains, takes about 5 seconds to read an entire page.
