Aren't there better wavetable synths now than the PPG WAVE?

I had much sympathy for Wolfgang Palm but then he quit his business too early with only a few words of thanks to his customers and claimed in an interview there weren't any real new developments anyway (whilst I see quite a few new developments)...

Oh yes, Pigments and others leave it in the dust, but it's a great synth for retro 80s synthwave.

I don't think you can export or import wavetables from the Waldorf PPG Wave 3V, although I expect that you may be able to find the wavetables elsewhere on the net. Edit. hmm, maybe not.

I don't know if the software PPG synths include the original wavetables..I think they may now be the property of Waldorf.

I'm hoping Plugin Alliance give the PPG synths an overhaul to make the resource and preset saving easier. I just gave up. Wolfgang kept saying you simply save it with the project, I kept telling him I wanted to use my sounds in other projects.

I believe they can be used in other Waldorf synths, but I don't know whether there are any tools to export them into WAV or other common formats. I think part of the charm with the PPG is how it mangles the samples due to bit dithering rather than any particular quality of the samples themselves.

The PPG Wave 3.1 on sale we've been discussing is the Waldorf plugin so comes with all the original factory samples and more.

I bought and registered 2 Waves plugins yesterday but still no mail about the free picks. The Waves peeps are probably very busy but I would've thought this was an automated thing and I had expected the mail to come within a minute or so.

Ah, I just found this info now:

"If you shop through a certified Waves dealer... One day after the promotion ends, you will receive an email with a link to a web page...".

They extended the promotion by one day, so it might be tomorrow. (Hopefully they won't keep extending the promotion and delaying the email....)

Pretty annoying; because the promotion was only supposed to be one day I thought I'd be able to buy through third-party dealers and get the free plugins the next day.

Softube quietly raised their prices on Cyber Monday. Harmonics went up to 69 from 59. Summit Audio Grand Channel went up to 135 from 89 on BF. It's like their too timid to give decent discounts.

50%+ discounts are not "decent"?

This is standard operating procedure with buying Waves through third-party resellers. Their promotions never last a day. Now you know the drill. Could be worse. At least they stipulated up-front which plugins qualified as the +2 ... I have seen in the past sometimes the list of what qualifies will change between when you purchase your plugins from a third-party and when you get access to select your freebies. If you really want to game the system, they have no idea when you purchased the licenses that qualify for the deal (or any future deal), so you can sit on licenses and register them when a good buy x get x free deal comes along. I have personally tested this. Don't know if free license keys would trigger these deals, as I haven't tried with those. I suspect they might.

The only registered D16 product I had was the free Frontier limiter. I was a little skeptical, but paid for the $19 crossgrade for Decimort 2 and the registration process worked seamlessly.

So its not the sound you like or want, thats ok but it doesn't make it "completely useless abandonware".

Sounds more like you're annoyed you bought something without doing the sensible thing and trying the demo first.

Does the PPG WAVE 3.V sound at all close to a PPG Wave? Could be useful to me for 80s sounds but ehhhh, I could probably use the money on Audiothing's "Outer Space" or put it towards getting a the Korg Wavestation and M1.
