Same for me. Any fix around for this yet?
Still useless over here. I reported it a year or two ago to waldorf and they were no help. Maybe send them an email?
Sigh. I will though, who knows.
Hi they seem to be working fine for me (v1.2.6)

This is great but is Waldorf making any money from this? The plugin is still at full price on their website. Just curious...I want to make sure that something goes to them as they need it.
Of course. The store will get a cut, but, most of the money will go to Waldorf.

PPG 3 is a pretty old plugin, just like Lector and Largo were. And the Waldorf Edition. If anything, it's about selling those old plugins, and promotion for both Waldorf and the store.

I’ve had my eye on this for 20 years give or take :)

Is it still a worthwhile purchase in 2020 compared to the other wavetable synths?

me thinks, yes. it has another approach to wavetables. but someone who owns the plugin longer than i have, can chime in, better, me thinks.

Frankly, I always thought it was too oldschool, also (especially) in terms of operation, and the fact that it doesn't interpolate smoothly between the waves (I have PPG V2.0). But then, if you're lookin for "that" sound (I think it's really been all over the 80's tracks), then that's quite a no-brainer, I guess.

Yes. It is unique sounding and other wt synths can't sound like that. Even recent Waldorf's dont have this exact sound. I believe there is an addon on Blofeld I which I am told is very close but possibly not quite there with interpolation and raw aliasing.(Interpolation is how it switches between wavetables.. PPG switches rather drastically its very punchy).

Do keep in mind it is not aimed for the latest cutting edge dance or trance imo. It has a retro but timeless sound just like the old Wavestation/M1, Ensoniq or the Kawai's etc..

2.3v has revised and modeled filter, sampling and the original waveterm sample set. I hear the layering is quite strong (which was not available in the original).

PPG wave for me then.

Maybe a windows issue then.

Maybe - I could upload my NKS patches but I suspect the bug is in the plugin's preset recall, not the NKS patches. It would be interesting to see if it also affects preset recall in projects in some hosts (because a NKS patch is basically just like a mini project).

I demoed Largo and PPG and deleted them both after 5 minutes. I know you can get PPG Wave for under 30 bucks, but I just don't get the appeal- it doesn't sound anything special to me at all (maybe it did in the day) and the interface and pre-set browser are horrible. All modern wavetable VSTs (including the free Vital) are far better in pretty much ever way that I can see and hear other than perhaps nostalgia.
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

:smack:

;)

Largo is the best space synth for me. Instant space music inspiration whenever I boot it up. Think Waldorf even marketed their synths like that once. "Inspired by space", or something like that.

I've had a long indirect relationship with the PPG Wave: I am a huge TD fan going back to the 70s. When they started using the Wave it was a real change for their sound and the sound of electronic music. Totally out of financial reach to me at the time. In the 90s a local music shop got a consignment Wave 3 in along with a Waveterm, all working. Price $800 Canadian. The consignment was from Oscar Peterson who often sold gear on consignment in this store (I have his MC202 because of that). Did I buy the Wave?? No! I played with it in the store but although an amazing instrument, it was boring to me sonincally. I should have bought it. Along with all those TB303's I saw for $50, minimoogs for $300. I did score a Prophet 10 for $600 but I sold it for $2500. Dumb move.

Anyway with all this, for $30 now for Waldorf Wave 3 I can at least take a trip down memory lane.

Actually, the plugin is really nice. There are enough presets included to make this worthwhile. It's just nice to hear that PPG sound and reflect back on all this. All that was well worth $30, to me. :phones:

I recently installed Largo on an old PC, and can see the NKS presets in Maschine. However, I don't have any audio preview files for the patches - do these need to be downloaded separately from the Waldorf site (or elsewhere)?
