To make it even sweeter you can choose MTurboCompLE for free with purchase. $19 for both of these in the best Black Friday deal I came across.Milford wrote: Wed Dec 02, 2020 4:29 pm D16 Decimort 2 Bit Crusher - Crossgrade from ANY D16 product, $19

The only registered D16 product I had was the free Frontier limiter. I was a little skeptical, but paid for the $19 crossgrade for Decimort 2 and the registration process worked seamlessly.

And as an extra bonus, that will qualify you for a discounted upgrade to the full MTurboComp. That's showing up as $79 in my account right now (presumably that will go up after Melda's current 50% off sale ends in 3 days).ATS wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 1:45 amTo make it even sweeter you can choose MTurboCompLE for free with purchase. $19 for both of these in the best Black Friday deal I came across.Milford wrote: Wed Dec 02, 2020 4:29 pm D16 Decimort 2 Bit Crusher - Crossgrade from ANY D16 product, $19

really? I was sort of looking at is as I really like Largo.Roman Wisniak wrote: Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:35 pm Beware, don't buy Waldorf PPG Wave 3.V. It's completely useless abandonware. Presets are garbage and boring.

Would MTurboCompLE be preferable over Royal Compressor (one of the other freebie options) because of higher sound quality or just more variety?ATS wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 1:45 am

Largo is a good one. PPG Wave 3.V on the other hand is more of an acquired taste. I have to admit that I never got it either. Was the first synth I ever uninstalled. You probably need to have a certain tolerance towards the quirks of the of the original hardware in order to be able to appreciate it.telecode wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 2:36 amreally? It’s certainly not for everyone. The raw sound is very dry and a little inorganic, but takes effects really well and can provide some really interesting texture to tracks even if you’re not using the sounds as the most prominent in the mix. If you’re after a modern wavetable synth though this ain’t it.

Hmm. maybe I might skip PPG then. I wound up checking the Lector demo while looking at that site today. Lector sounds amazing. Hope that goes of sale. I aint paying $100 for it.mgw38 wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 2:56 amLargo is a good one. PPG Wave 3.V on the other hand is more of an acquired taste. I have to admit that I never got it either. I chose Royal Compressor and its been a really nice easy use case compressor, there is a Saturation knob on it which instantly gives a thicker fatter sound, or turn it all the way down if you dont want more of that for the source, very nice tool and no real guesswork to overthink.Ou_Tis wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 2:50 amWould MTurboCompLE be preferable over Royal Compressor (one of the other freebie options) because of higher sound quality or just more variety?ATS wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 1:45 am

Yup! An acquired taste indeed. But it has the PPG sound which is old school digital. I worked with it in the eighties and there are most definitely some of those sounds in this box. If that is what you are after then it's a really good deal.leeleema wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 5:43 amIt was on sale for $35 in September so I'm sure it will come around againtelecode wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 5:21 amHmm. maybe I might skip PPG then. It's based on a classic so why would you call it abandonware when there's nothing to change?

I don’t like the lack of a high pass filter, the saturation is ok though.Insanelysane wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 6:01 amI chose Royal Compressor and its been a really nice easy use case compressor, there is a Saturation knob on it which instantly gives a thicker fatter sound, or turn it all the way down if you dont want more of that for the source, very nice tool and no real guesswork to overthink.Ou_Tis wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 2:50 amWould MTurboCompLE be preferable over Royal Compressor (one of the other freebie options) because of higher sound quality or just more variety?ATS wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 1:45 am

Why abandonware? Because it's bugged piece of software. NKS just don't work propertly and there are no updates for long time for PC version.kelvyn wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 6:07 amYup! On the other way, Largo is a fine synth and works flowlessly.

Yes it is. It has a number of the original 2.3 presets included.Kameo wrote: Wed Dec 02, 2020 9:35 pm Does the PPG WAVE 3.V sound at all close to a PPG Wave? Could be useful to me for 80s sounds but ehhhh, I could probably use the money on Audiothing's "Outer Space" or put it towards getting a the Korg Wavestation and M1.
With some help I was able to get the dead spit of the wave choir sound used by Robert Schroder.
If you want the closest thing to a PPG I think it's it. Generally I've been able to get closer to that sound than using say the Microwave 1.
