That sounds damned nice, but honestly many people already have enough synths and have better things to do than get another one to develop welfare patches for it.PieBerger wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 12:28 pm+1, it's free, you have literally zero excuses not to acquire it and try to make something serviceable yourself.neverbeeninariot wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 12:16 pmPerhaps you could create a non-awful, usable, decent, normal patch and share it here?BenfordLaw wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 12:05 pm That is precisely the sort of awful noise that I keep hearing from Vital, when is anybody going to show any decent sounds that it can do? Like actually usable sounds, that sound like they would belong in a piece of normal (i.e. not industrial, etc.) music?
I'm sure people will be happy to provide equally encouraging feedback...
If the developers wants them to pick up the product, then the product has to sell itself to them.
Right now, there is a fair bit of overhype with Vital. When the noise dissipates and an ecosystem actually forms around it, I think things will fall into place.
You know 90% of the "EDM Internet" are just preset juggling bandwagonners, anyways. If Vital can't develop a decent ecosystem, they will continue to rent-to-own Serum, instead
If I said you are blocked, I won't see your posts. Please kindly refrain from quoting or replying to me.
"Notifications for Nothing" are annoying. Blocking me in return is a good way to avoid this.

overhype? this is a forum of music-makers, and, this specific thread is about vital, a plugin many here like. i make mostly pop/hiphop (no edm!), and am using vital a lot, it sounds great... to me.Trensharo wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 3:04 pm That sounds damned nice, but honestly many people already have enough synths and have better things to do than get another one to develop welfare patches for it.

a plugin doesn't have to conform specifically to your needs, it can be just what it is. and if it's not for you, that's fine; as you pointed out, "many people already have enough synths".
i get that not everyone will like this one, what i don't get is the pointless rants some people need to project at something that isn't for them, but, as always, this is kvr...

I am really enjoying the experience of Vital, at the present moment I am using just the free version, I think I will wait a little bit longer before I purchase the Pro version. Like all new Synths it will take sometime before the preset designers begin to fully exploit all the new capabilities.
At the moment I don't have any issues with the core functions, Vital already surpasses so many other Synths that I have tried.
I am not sure if Vital will get additional features (I hope so) but in the meanwhile there's plenty to be getting on with.
One of if not the best ever free Synth that I've downloaded.

There is some sort of bug with Bitwig 3.3, when using the mod wheel on an external keyboard. The mod wheel is being ignored from my keyboard. The mod wheel indicator in the Vital GUI does move with MIDI input from the keyboard, so it is receiving the input.
If I change the mod wheel using the Vital GUI, the modulation works. Strangely, mod wheel automation from Bitwig via the time line or a Bitwig modulator is also working just fine. It only seems to be ignored when the MIDI comes direct from my keyboard, even though Vital recognizes the input by moving the GUI mod wheel.
My other synths don't have this issue.
This is on Mac, VST2, in Bitwig 3.3. The Keyboard is a KK S61. I'm using the Jürgen Moßgraber KK scripts.
I tested this in Ableton 11b19, and in Logic 10.6, and the mod wheel works just fine there. This only seems to be an issue with Bitwig.
ALSO: Every time I load Vital into a new DAW, I have to re-login to my Vital account.

I'm keeping the preset to myself for now. I'll share it later. Which reminds me, I haven't actually saved it as a Vital preset yet.Held wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 2:59 pmThis sound really great. Are you sharing the preset? If not, could you give me some hints on how to create a similar sound? I would really appreciate it![]()
I used the Text to Wavetable function and created the vocal sound (not words) that way. I forget what I typed in, but like Ahhh and Oooh, or something like that. Took a few tries to get the google translator to give a result I wanted. Tweaked to taste and played it with my Linnstrument so I used pitch slides to move from note to note. Glide would work for a regular keyboard but wouldn't be quite as organic with constant speed.

Make sure you set the Spectral Morph to Vocode... I also set Wave Morph to Formant to tweak the result subtly depending on the octave.Held wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 4:44 pm I hadn't used the TtWT because I couldn't think of anything interesting to try. This is giving me some ideas, though. Thank you so much for sharing![]()
The TtWT function is really cool. You can get all sorts of useful results by playing with your text entry. For example, if you type vvvv it will say the letter 4 times... eeeeeee makes a lovely kind of tremelo 'e' sound. Quite realistic vocal results are possible.

doesn't happen here, the plugin just opens. what is it doing on launch?pdxindy wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 4:58 pm The check that Vital does when first launched is annoying. Maybe my internet connection is slow, but it hangs up for like 10 seconds most of the time.

Yeah I've noticed this recently. I thought I did this in the background but may be holding up the UI in some cases.pdxindy wrote: Thu Dec 03, 2020 4:58 pm The check that Vital does when first launched is annoying. Yeah, the UI gets held up. I can still do stuff on other tracks in Bitwig, but Vital is frozen for about 10 seconds or so. Then it frees up and there is no problem.
