it's not illegal to test plugins in a demo version of a DAW.

The Reaper evaluation license has a generous evaluation period of 60 days. The full version can be installed in as many computers as you wish.

So of course, a plugin dev since at least 2013 might have discovered Reaper in the last 60 days.

FYI SKnote started out releasing synths and then went hardcore processors only.
Had a really cool vocal and granular synth back in the day, among some boring commercial releases that were eventually ditched.

I see no section on Reaper's license saying that people using it for developing plugins get a perpetual evaluation period. So there is a clear license breach.

If you are a dev, you don't make marketing hype screenshots using unlicensed software. If you think you deserve one free license, then you just contact the other company (Cockos) and ask for it. If you don't get it for free then you have to buy it, every job requires tools.

To me that screenshot says a lot about SKnote, both about their ethics and care for detail.
