Hello there Waveform users,

I'm using Waveform PRO v.11.1.0 for Linux.
Works great !

However there seems to be an issue with the "Download Manager" accessible in SETTINGS > DOWNLOADS.

The interface's page keeps being stuck with the "Install Download Manager" action, though the Download Manager is installed.

This is easily verified by launching the command dpkg -l | grep -i tracktion command on a Linux console, which, in my case, returns :

ii tracktion-download-manager 1.0.4 amd64 Tracktion download manager

This confirms that the Tracktion Download Manager (version 1.0.4) was correctly downloaded and installed.

So the question is : what should I do to make Waveform understands it is correctly installed so it proposes me to walk the other available downloads, eg. "Collective v1.2.5" and "Collective Content v1.0.5", which I can download without this issue being resolved.

Thanks for the help and the great work.

I'm using Debian based AV-Linux distribution; with RT kernel 4.16.12-rt5-avl1

Try updating to Download Manager 1.0.6.

Thanks and OK, I can try that...

However, given Tracktion only proposes 1.0.4 on its website, do you have an idea where I can get this Linux-Debian package from.

Indeed, I googled and could not find it...

in your account on downloads go to individual installers, download manager then beta.

Good sight !
As such, just fetched and manually installed the package since Waveform would only fetch and install the version 1.0.4.

Now Download Manager 1.0.6 correctly installed.

Alas, it does not change a iota to Waveform, which does not recognize that a valid package is installed.

As a result, there is no way for me to download Tracktion Collective Instrument package.

Given Melodyne is already NOT available for the Linux version, it really thins out the incentive to pay the same full price for only a sub-version of the product.

Now, why are not the Waveform-for-Linux developers, who develop the paying version of this product for LINUX, not putting more efforts to solve, or help us solve, this kind of problems is a non-sense... because these problems play as a definite deterrent...

However, to "BloodyCactus" and "ForrestH", thanks for your time and tips.

I know the Download Manager fails to finish downloading the Multisampler content package (apparently a fault on the server's end), but don't remember it failing with Collective.
I know I've got Collective 1.2.5 / Content 1.0.5 installed on Linux, but possibly I just used the Individual Installer page to download them.

-- ISSUE SOLVED --

Found a workaround.
Looking into the filelist of the 1.0.6 installed package ( dpkg -L tracktion-download-manager), one sees there is a binary installed : /usr/bin/tracktion-download-manager.

Manually launching that command would indeed open the Waveform Download Manager's interface and let one download the missing packages.

So it only remains now that the Waveform developpers of the Linux version bridge the gap by fixing the issue so the download manager can be directly and *properly* launched from the Waveform's main interface (Settings > Downloads).

For now, please consider the issue solved.

And thanks to all.

The Launch Download Manager button at the top of the Downloads tab doesn't work?

Post

Does not seem ti update...
Weird as it sounds, the button's label keeps saying "Install Downlad Manager"

I will open a new thread regarding another issue related to "a problem in downloading the "Collective Content" package 1.0.5 (2.2GB).

thanks for your help ForrestH ;)
