Nice tip, thank you. This is very useful.AJYoung wrote: Sat Dec 05, 2020 6:29 amTechnically this exists (Global>Voice Amplitude in the modmatrix), but there's not a knob for it on the interface. Certainly not intuitive.Whywhy wrote: Sat Dec 05, 2020 3:52 am a gain control, per voices, after filters signal out, is at the top on his feature list.
I believe ENV 1 is also applied to each voice after the filter stage, but you can't use it to set the gain above unity.

Matt is doing direct marketing and Vital has generated a real buzz through word of mouth that a lot of other companies can only dream about...
They pay big bucks for ad campaigns created by their over paid experts that don't generate anywhere close to the traction that Vital has generated in such a short space of time...
Vital has brought a few new tricks to the table, a fresh perspective on what we can hopefully expect from other developers. Its a win for everybody except for lazy developers.
Soon I will purchase the full edition to support Matt in the hope he will continue to develop more Synths.
Thank god there's a new kid in town because some developers are just recycling the same idea over and over.

I just tried Vital, the first pad preset in the list (I can't remember the name) took 39% of my CPU (i7 4790). What sort of CPU hit are other people seeing?

How many notes were you triggering ?
This is one note with Abbysun which is the first Pad in the list on my old i5 3470 internet computer:
EDIT: Looking closer at that patch it's got a fairly long Env release time. Three Oscs are active, two of which have 16V Unison, there are 51 Mod Matrix entries, he's using 6 LFO's, and 6 FX including the Reverb.
That patch is probably on the higher end of CPU demand for Vital.

I am using Live 10 playing Abbysun on a 2020 13 inch MacBook Pro i5 (but I got batch lucky and it is i7 level. My laptop had the highest GeekBench single core test for an i5 for months). 39% cpu hit for a sustained 3-note chord. Not even granular synths or most Diva patches at the highest setting hit that CPU level for the same conditions. Avenger laughs! Padshop 2 rolls on the floor! Pigments 2 snickers! Serum says, "WTF"!? Yeah, Vital has lots of potential. But, at this point, it needs to be much more efficient. Other people might not have this issue, but it sure sounds like this isn't an isolated issue.
The DIY patch spikes to 46% cpu hit for a single note!
A granular pad patch in Rapid is a 13% CPU hit for a sustained 3-note chord.
A granular pad patch in Avenger is a 14% CPU hit for a sustained 3-note chord.
A granular pad patch in Pigments 2 is a 14% CPU hit for a sustained 3-note chord.
A huge pad patch in Diva can range from 16-42% CPU hit for a sustained 3-note chord.
A similar patch in Anima is an 11% CPU hit for a sustained 3-note chord.
A granular pad patch in Padshop 2 is a 13% CPU hit for a sustained 3-note chord.
A huge pad patch in Serum is a 12% CPU hit for a sustained 3-note chord.

Most people actually report low CPU usage but a few people are reporting high CPU usage like you're seeing, mainly on Mac. I think there's an issue where the graphics drawing is getting registered as DSP usage on some systems so that might be what's happening with you. To be clear this really isn't an efficiency problem but an issue with separating the processing that goes into drawing graphics.HTT wrote: Sat Dec 05, 2020 11:21 pm I am using Live 10 playing Abbysun on a 2020 13 inch MacBook Pro i5 (but I got batch lucky and it is i7 level. Hey Matt.
Congrats on a great synth
I just got my hands on this yesterday. I noticed that with a 2 osc 1 filter with about 10 modulations....
I get 2% cpu with the gui off and 30% with it on.

One note with the DIY patch:
That's on my internet computer which is a refurbished business machine with an old i5 3470 Win 10
Like Matt said it looks to be an issue with the Mac version.
