Rapid has made it to a few of my recordings, using factory presets. I think they are well done. I have done some minor tweaking and I think it sounds fine, though I have to admit I am a tweaker and not a programmer.

Many synths I use have filters and EQ inserted on the channel anyway.

I am producing in 88.2 so when i was running the demo and went through the spectrogram, i noticed that it can only go up to 22.050hz.
It's a demo limitation?
Wavetables are tuned strictly to 44.1 and thus it cannot go higher?

Any words on this?

It's a relief to know that finally someone is producing music for dolphins.

No, not a demo limitation. More of a "performacne optimization". When I asked about it, it rather started a discussion how useless anything bigger than 44.1 is, yada yada :D Don't expect anything to change.

Alright, now it makes sense why this is one of the lightest synths I've ever used and still has all these features available. I get your point about higher SRs, I was thinking the same.

Not surprised. Mirko Ruta makes some of the best presets out there, IMO. They have a genuine feel and emotion, for lack of better words. I have not heard any cheap ‘filler’ type presets in any expansions he has done. Very consistent high quality stuff. His Arps and sequences…like pouring warm, sweet sweet honey into my ears.

Check out his expansions for Nexus and Avenger too. For example Nexus Tropical House 3, Festival 2, Lo-Fi. Excellent stuff. Would recommend even at full price.

i didn t browse much the library but indeed he is really good and do cleaver programing .
i bought a bank recently for a synth from a well know sound designer i could remake the bank in 2 days..very simple patch that dont even use the feature of the synths to make them evolve ect.. i got fouled by the nice arranging of the demo and the sell speech hype.. it s first time and last time i buy presets in the other hand even if it s not really the sound i will use the rapid one has lot of cleaver programing.

rapid is imo great as a learning tool , i leanrn many tricks studying some of his patchs and how he use rapid

i don t think it change something about cpu, if i m right it s just that the anti alias filter is still at same frequency when using higher sample rate, it would be nice if it could be updated but you still get benefit of using higher sampling rate as nothing bounce back in the audible range when using things that generate lot of harmonics ,at 44.1 it can happen if i remember.

the problem i think is that when doing resonant filter sweep , specially with a hp filter, it s sort of fade out the sound in the highs limiting the usable range of the filter , it happen on many synth and i think it s cause of that , when doing resonant sweep once in the high the anti alias filter kill the highs and the usable range of the resonant filter get limited cause there is nothing left to filter...i feel these hp and bp filter never sound great it seems or have small range of usability but could be wrong.

Afaik synths like Diva oversample internally, at least the filter + OSC part. So this should not be happening.
Do we have info how Rapid oversamples the filter? Maybe the output ist filtered, but internally it works at a higher sampling rate.

i don t know it s very complicated topic cause oversampling also degrade the sound , alias supression technics are like adding layer of colors , but they know what they are doing , rapid can sound very good and use light cpu if i m right.

I'm pretty sure any synth filter *must* be oversampled internally otherwise you would get nasty aliasing quickly when used with resonance/overdriven at 44.1khz.

maybe , i don t know enought, i think for filters it s more about the curve it s easier at higher sample rate to get analog like curve and phase reponse on the top, if it s overdriven oversampling help if aliasing become hearable. it s really intresting but i don t know much, i beta tested some oversampling and aliasing supression technic, and i can tell its better to avoid oversampling in many case if aliasing is not too loud.. lot of people measure aliasing so company have to use oversampling ect for marketing purpose when sometiems it s not really needed. it s not the ultimate solution for great sound

I think it depends mainly if the filter is non linear in behavior. Also there are better and worse oversampling implementations.usually a osc can be Band limited to prevent having upper registers. I think that's what they do here.
Definitely synths like diva are always oversampled internally, unless the session is run at 192khz or higher, depending on quality setting.
