Again, missing the point. No-one's butt hurt, I don't give s**t what IK do. But I can call it out if I like - we're not all obsequious to IK.

The release date has been "before the end of the year."Mr Arkadin wrote: Mon Dec 07, 2020 9:38 pmlol, what? The release date that they've been reticent to announce until a few hours ago?jamcat wrote: Mon Dec 07, 2020 9:29 pm So you’re mad that IK is meeting the release date they set months ago?
Usually it’s the opposite.
They will be releasing it before the end of the year.
So what is the point of the complaining?
You want IK to postpone releasing AmpliTube 5 until after their target date? I'm sure the rest of us are cool with waiting until you're ready for it. I bet Peter is running that suggestion up the chain as we speak.
Otherwise, you must be proposing IK release it before it's ready. Perhaps they can release it last month if they work weekends.

The freeware is so good, that IK and other commercial devs have to keep innovating to survive. The prices are amazingly low, because competition is fierce. Predicting a release date is a fools errand, but even fools must hazard an educated guess, and hope the coders don't get ambushed by some terrible bug, or some daft management-imposed feature list.
Christmas isn't about buying gear and stuff for ourselves.
Quite the opposite. In a man's world, if something will be used nearly every day, it may justify renting it from a credit card loanshark for a year. I haven't been to a fast-food drive-thru all year, the saving$ enable me to pay the interest, and enjoy a few rentals to the hilt
(and worse, my bank drive-thru is downwind from the flame-broiled burger joint next door
)

Up until now your point was that the release date was poor and not thought out, which is why you're NOT buying it.Mr Arkadin wrote: Mon Dec 07, 2020 9:42 pmSure they can do what they like. I can also call it out as a cynical marketing move.SJ_Digriz wrote: Mon Dec 07, 2020 9:40 pm again ... when they choose to release. It's up to them. It's up to you to buy/not buy. Simple. No angst required. Just because it doesn't meet your convenience window simply doesn't matter. It's Christmas. They are selling stuff. It's a totally new idea.
But now it's "a cynical marketing move" because machiavellian IK marketers knew you wouldn't have a few minutes to play your guitar between next week and New Year's. Obviously because you've got so many big 2020 holiday parties to attend.Mr Arkadin wrote: Mon Dec 07, 2020 9:18 pmSJ_Digriz wrote: Mon Dec 07, 2020 9:15 pm So let me get this straight. A company that sells stuff for a living should avoid releasing and selling a new product during the holiday season (2nd largest buying period of the year) because it doesn't align with your schedule and finances? Uh yeah, makes perfect sense to me.
No. What makes sense is not to launch it two weeks before Christmas. Lots of people will have already done their shopping and it's just generally a busy period, so not being able to demo is highly likely.

Obsequious in what way?Mr Arkadin wrote: Mon Dec 07, 2020 9:52 pmAgain, missing the point. No-one's butt hurt, I don't give s**t what IK do. But I can call it out if I like - we're not all obsequious to IK.
-I've actively complained about the crappy preset system in ATx (because of the dependency on items you may not own)
-I've banged on about the IK bucks approach to the custom shop.
-I've complained about the crazy amount of combinations of product skews that make buying a product in a range you already own a headache (like the upcoming options for AT5)
But busting a nut over a release date is silly to me. Unless its approaching Serious Sam II territory that is. If for some reason they don't meet the 15th, who cares it will be out shortly. Maybe they will toss more days of demo if they have some additional delays in release. You never know. But the current whine doesn't go with the cheese.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

No - the point was that the release date was poor but that it has been very well thought out.jamcat wrote: Mon Dec 07, 2020 10:10 pm Up until now your point was that the release date was poor and not thought out, which is why you're NOT buying it.
Come on dude, are you seriously suggesting IK don't know Christmas is a busy time of year for many people, not just me I think? Lot's of people are away for Christmas - and I bet many are off to see loved ones they haven't seen all year because of this covid s**t. That's what I'll be doing. Also some of us still have busy jobs to fit in as well as the Christmas shenanigans.jamcat wrote: Mon Dec 07, 2020 10:10 pm But now it's "a cynical marketing move" because machiavellian IK marketers knew you wouldn't have a few minutes to play your guitar between next week and New Year's. I'm going to be away from my DAW until after Christmas, myself. But I'm not going to complain that they're releasing it before then. I'm just glad it's not months behind schedule, like the Satch Collection was.Mr Arkadin wrote: Mon Dec 07, 2020 10:19 pm Come on dude, are you seriously suggesting IK don't know Christmas is a busy time of year for many people, not just me I think? doesn't a release date of ten days before xmas really affect IK negatively? It seems to me it would have behooved them to release it with more time before xmas...a lot of people will be done shopping except for stocking stuffers, people would have more time to put it on their wishlist after a demo and/or reviews...but then people do get money and giftcards for xmas...but still I think 12/15 release is a bit odd for getting the xmas crowd
