Just noticed that Vital's installation folder contains a folder named "stub", which in turn contains the file "vc_redist.x64.exe" ( Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable (x64) - 14.27.29016 ). Don't have a clue as to whether it is installed by the Vital installer or not. Or if it's even relevant, but maybe it is.
I think, it's people who have old graphics capabilities which won't work with a graphics thing called OpenGL which the developer uses to make the GUI of the plugin. That's how i understand it anyway.
Just old isn't all there is to it , so it seems. I've got a 10-year old, bog standard, cheap as chips, ASUS graphics card, and I can run Vital ( not many instances, but it works ). But, as I said, the VC redist. package may not be relevant. Thought I'd mention it, just in case. Good luck with whatever solutions you may try !

Thanks Elex.

Some old graphics are kept up to date with latest OpenGL through drivers, but some aren't. I think that's what it is. My graphics is by Intel but the latest (last, because Intel won't make any more) drivers don't support recent OpenGL.

jasinski wrote: Wed Dec 09, 2020 5:14 pm @photonic, I played around with your awesome piano patch and set up some mods to try to correct the detuning problem with the comb filter as well as adding some macros to warp the sound a bit :)

It's pretty close to in tune now I think.

Awesome, thank you! :tu:
Your modification is great. I see a lot of extras in my patch. You added a lot of goodies.
Which one solved the tuning problems? I asume it is not only the note-modulation to the filer 1 cut off.
I'd like to use this fix in other PM-sounds too.
I had to slightly detune the filter 1 cut off too, offset it about 1.5 cents to get it to line up.. It's still not perfect but pretty close.

I also did a couple Vital guitar patches too.

My computer is only really happy in draft mode, so i may do some additional edits later & see if i can get it feeling more lively & warmer :)

details to follow
I had similar cpu issues and had the idea of freezing my tracks one by one once they were ready but before doing each one changing that instance to a higher oversampling.

yes, i did think about this, somehow i feel a bit odd about it, Zprime was saying earlier about using different daws for Mix down & that it’s not within the rules, i feel somewhat the same about bouncing tracks and then working on them, it’s allowed, yes, i just personally feel it should be what your system is capable of and finding interesting solutions and innovative ways to adjust to the limits that appear, such as bypassing instances when not featuring which has helped me. i have done a 96k mix down on 1* upsampling, my computer starting creakin :D

i may yet change my mind :D

I find that bouncing to audio constantly helps me with my workflow as I'm able to visualise transients, and spot midi timing or volume mistakes more easily, I'll then scrub the audio and go back and tweak the midi until it's where I want it and then freeze it. There's nothing wrong with freezing tracks or bouncing 16 bar sections or full audio stems to save on CPU.

Plus I don't like what happens when I press stop / start in Ableton and I've got 20+ instances plus effects. It can sound like my audio devices sample buffer is being spectrally warped!!

As long as your using the same Daw and keeping the midi tracks and plugins so you can turn them back on / unfreeze I think that's within the rules.

everyone should do what they feel best and helps with their workflow, i’m not against anything within the rules, if it helps, then that can only be a good thing :)
As it’s a no hold bars month in terms of fx then it will just be good for the OsC, i’m only here to have a bit of fun and have some motivation to actually make something, if i can improve my workflow, it’s all good, this month i’m trying only lo/hi shelf rather than lo/hi pass, also i get to try out some magware and Diffusion and Hornet Eq, also looking at Kush fx as they have a 10 full working demo :)

Personally im going to stick with Vital only, because my intent is to showcase how complete I can make a full track sound just with this one synth alone.

With the exeption of sidechain comp on the bass, and an eq on the 2bus because I always mix to dark on purpose cause its easy on my ears working long hours. So just push a bit mid highs very broadly on the master bus and thats all. Ah yeah and a limiter just to keep it decently loud without clipping. I want crank it.

Its tempting to use valhalla reverbs etc because the reverb in Vital is probably its weekest side. But im going to keep it all vital anyway because I think or hope it will make a more strong case for the competition. :P ..and also for the showcase of the synth.

I make mainly 2 styles: melodic playfull techno or forest psytrance.
What do you guys think more people would like here?

Techno has a bigger scene, but the psy scene has a higher % of synth nerds. And I think this thread is filled with synth nerds. :P

If most here hate trance though I will gladly do techno instead.

Psy-trance is quite popular at KVR. Techno less popular.

I was among winners with psy trance tracks few times. MorphedDreams also had success with this genre, so It's definitely popular here. But in the end voting should be based not on genre, but on how good is sound design, how well track is composed/arranged, mixed and mastered.

Yea, Psy trance seems to be the cheese here. It surprisingly gained popularity over last year so much so that even I was forced to include a psytrance section in one of the last rounds. Can't go wrong with it, or can you?
Worth a try for sure.
