ALT-Click behaviour

in my system alt-clicking a knob in muLab and Mux resets, then second ALT-Click goes to MAX value, then third ALT-click goes to min value, with an extra half stop on the rack fader. When the knob value is even slightly past mid-value, it goes str8 to Max value. This leads to loads of problems, some just annoying and some even potentially dangerous (when dealing with volumes). I sincerely hope you can give the option for Alt-clicking knobs to simply reset rather than also mining and maxing. IMHO this is a very very serious issue for the software given how abrupt those HUMONGOUS steps are and how easy it is to accidentally double click rather than single clicking. I thought it would be addressed but couldn't find any recent posts specific to its problematic nature on controls. Anyways, thought i'd say my piece.

What do others think about changing the Alt+click on slider/knob to simply reset to the default value. (thus remove the steps to min, middle and max)

Setting a control to the minimum or maximum extent manually is a pretty trivial action. I think removing a shortcut that might cause a control to suddenly jump to its maximum level is a good idea, or at least have such a shortcut be its own thing that wouldn't be accidentally hit.

A double-click to reset would be great. I agree that the potential of clicking into a maximum amount, especially with volume, is a troubling problem.

Haven't thought of this before, but having been hit by a BD sample at max volume (a cat sat on the volume control!
), I think this is a good idea. Agree with other posters that I only use alt-click to reset to mid (say, pan center), so for me, it would be handier removing the feature of clicking to get min and max settings, resulting in only mid on alt-click.
And, yes, double-click seems to be the de facto standard in the VST world. If I remember correctly, there was a reason why Jo opted for alt-click instead, when this feature was introduced. (Hopefully it was to allow for min- and max-clicks without hitting keys like in a game of Asteroids, meaning double-click would now be possible.

Ok in the next update the Alt+click on a slider or knob purely sets it to its default value.
In MuLab/MUX double-click is reserved for "create" or "edit" an object.
For example double-clicking a meta-parameter knob opens the meta-parm map.
So that's why double-click is not used to reset a slider/knob, thus for consistency.

Having an option to reverse double-click and Alt+click behaviors would be great in that case.mutools wrote: Sun Dec 20, 2020 1:50 pm Ok in the next update the Alt+click on a slider or knob purely sets it to its default value.

In the next update the context menu of parameter sliders and knobs includes "Reset Value" to set the slider/knob to its default value. (eg. reset a gain slider to 0 dB) So then it's possible to reset the slider also with mouse only.
