What's the full picture when it comes to PDC and timing issues?

I've nearly finished a very complex track, and since it actually got too heavy for my processor to handle I've bounced out 4 parts into a new track for final mixing. I'm now noticing that the general timing seems odd, but I can't be objective about what I'm hearing.

I know that Waveform has some serious anomalies with timing when simply playing a track, as e.g. if I have a section looped occasionally Waveform will play a note from the bar after the loop, just as it's cycling back to the start, resulting in the ridiculous stuck note issue. I don't know if this is just a timing issue with the loop point... I tend to think not, because I don't think it generally plays the note for all tracks after the loop point, rather just one or two seem to play and generate a stuck note, as if the tracks are all note entirely in sync with each other.

It's not something that seemed to affect me way back when I was using Tracktion 1, and my understanding was that it was an issue with racks, which I generally didn't use. Well, I'm not really using any racks now, so is it just a rack issue or are there other PDC anomalies?

I haven't tried any of the betas, but I saw positive comments about the new audio engine and timing.

There has been some updates to PDC issue, so not wishing to sound flippant, but the best way to know of improvement or not, is try latest beta make a complete copy of the project you are referring to and try it out in the beta.

I saw comments indicating that it overwrites the release version of Waveform? If I can run both simultaneously it would be worth a go, though the number of bugs looks high and I'm getting a lot of crashes anyway, which is probably more a reflection on the number of plugins I'm running that Waveform itself.

That's a good point, I,m running the latest beta, but I'm sure rolled back to the official release from one of the earlier betas. By re installing it.
I'll try and re installing it again from 11.2.4 Beta.
I'll get back to you shortly. I'm on PC windows 8.1

Ok I re installed 11.1.0 the official release version, and it installed ok and loaded and played the track I was working on.
So I guess it's whether you want to take the chance.
But I would definitely work from a copy of your track in the beta. Cheers

I've actually got 7 (32 bit) 8 (32)
8(64) 10(64) 11.2(64) all still installed; and occasionally go back to the 32-bit ones to try some of the old 32-bit VST to see whether it's worth running in VSTHOST/bridge or not. (like the old MinimogueVA, which really looked and worked like an old Moog)

Only problem I've run across is that settings USUALLY import forward well enough; but going back to run the 32-bit and rescanning causes errors and forces you to rescan the 64-bit ones again.

Oh, and be REALLY careful when working on/reviewing an older project - you normally can't save in a newer version and then reload in the older versions.

I installed the beta on a second machine which doesn't have any substantial projects on it, but am I right in thinking the stuck note hell is finally over? Muting/soloing tracks no longer seems to produce hanging notes... this looks very promising.

Though I am noticing that once every 15 times or so, when looping a section the initial note in the loop gets skipped over, so there must still be some timing quirks.

The point of beta versions has always been to report issues you discover, with ways to replicate the issue, so the issues can be resolved for release versions.
