Worst song ever. I'd be so torn between some really good candidates.
Achy Breaky Heart - Billy Ray Cyrus!!!!!!!!!!!!
Blue or I'm Blue or whatever that horrendous song by the um Danish(??) guys. In fact anything they did was dreadful and now when the radios have stopped playing it I'm hearing the ringtones of it constantly. UGH!!!!
I should be so lucky (original) - Kylie Minogue
Teardrops - Womack and Womack (shoot me now)
Perfect - Fairground Attraction
Skating on thin ice - Yoko Ono (if fact anything by her is excruciating)
I'm trying to pick out all the ones I remember which made me want to scream and bash my head against a wall. I think that makes them great candidates for the worst song in history.
I'll probably think of some more later.

There's so much cringy material out there it's hard to decide. One sort of thing that inevitably makes me want to chew my own leg off to survive is that particularly nauseating brand of 80's pop music characterised by the likes of Wham! and Culture Club. Or anything with that post-Whitney Houston/Celine Dion strangled cat approach to vocal melodrama. Or those cliched r&b songs with the spoken part in the middle ("Baby... please come back to me...").
But I won't have anybody dissing the genius of William Shatner!

VH1 did a special on this topic: "We Built This City" by Starship was the worst....I can't argue that one!

okay.. maybe I don't know them all... Yeah crap song though.
The birdie song was worst, and was played way to much in crappy youth club discos when I was a wee kid.

If anybody watched the British show "The Office", there was a song they used over the closing credits with the lyric "tthe handbags and the gladrags that your granddad had to sweat so you could buy"...
I don't know who it's by, but it is pure torture!
