Has anyone had a look at this?

https://shop.audified.com/products/linda-rockstack

I tried the demo over the weekend and I quite like it. It has a nice sound to it and plenty of variety in the presets. For the intro price of $29, it was a no-brainer for me and I've already added it to a couple of the things I am working on. I think it is well worth checking out. I quite like the pun in the name, too.

stick drum buss through it. no mix control, but it's a killer sound

The sound examples on the page sound pretty bad to me actually.

almost every audio demo of every plugin ever sounds bad.

lol bollocks
I lost my heart in Cap de Creus

A bit fizzy sounding on the higher gain stuff, but honestly for the price, its not bad at all. If you already have a decent IR loader, I am sure you could get some great results for sure!

Not at all, in my opinion.

What I seem to hear here reminds me of some bog-standard transistor amp or something...

well, what do you expect, this thing was given away for free before, was called Rock Amp, developed by the same Linda guy, now wrapped in Audified brand for reassurance, but still, you shall not expect high quality from this bugger.

tried it. meh. clean sounds are okay-ish, rock sound is very samey, and metal sound is abysmal.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Author's reaction to the same (my) suspicion:

well, again, what would you expect him to say? that it's the same? no one's gonna say it. he wants his pocket money.

of course he will hoodoo-voodoo his old shit, so people think they get a chocolate bar.

Did you check it? I have tried to set old and new version to the same settings (knobs, switches, one external IR) and there is audible difference there. The new version (crunch, dist) sounds better IMO.

Likes:
1. The name
2. The philosophy (not just trying to mimic specific hardware)
3. Clean tones
4. The price
5. The GUI's decent

Dislikes:
1. So many presets sound the same
2. Preset selector doesn't work in Waveform (not related to the above :hihi: )

Overall I like it, but it does seem to have a limited palette. It could find a place in my home for those times when solid-state crunch* or solid-state clean are required. It's good to have choices. It's best not to have to pay $100+ for another choice.

Premier Guitar recently had an article about a Linda Ronstadt amp, so at first I though this might be related. It's not.

* The free Audiority L12X is already fine for solid-state crunch.
Surely there must be consensus by now...
