TI Patch import, that would be f-cking nuts! How likely is something like this?
INTERFACE: RME ADI-2/4 Pro/Antelope Orion Studio Synergy Core/BAE 1073 MPF Dual/Heritage Audio Successor+SYMPH EQ
SYNTHS: Arturia Polybrute 12/Roland Jupiter X + Juno X/Yamaha Montage M/Yamaha KX88/Softsynths + Samplers
PEDALS: Chase Bliss Mood MK II

I'm dreaming of Virus to Viper patch converter in any form.

Post

When I copied Virus TI patches in Viper I noted that directly copying the parameters often didn't quite work and I had to adjust the settings by ear to get an actually similar sound.

So I guess an automatic converter wouldn't really be very useful.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

This new version drastically improved the 1:1 conversion so a virus patch import could in theory be possible

Cool!

But does this mean that the old patches will sound different now?

I remember that I was getting the most differences from the filter (which I thought was explained by that Viper filter was ZDF so it was supposed to sound somewhat different to Virus) and also the equalizer.

Unfortunately a little bit, but they will sound better, and more like the Virus. 90% of the patches will sound the same though, it only sounds a bit different in certain situations.

Adam, lots of amazing Virus presets out in the wild, this would be a pretty amazing feat indeed.

Adam, how would you go about converting the presets? Would you have to develop a separate converter?

I could in theory open and read the data thats contained in the virus .mid files, and simply convert the midi values to values that Viper understands, but the problem is legality as we discussed a few pages back. First I will ask Access if they have any problem with that, and then I can dive deeper into this.

I see....lets hope they are ok with that. Sometimes companies do decide to offer partnerships. As long as its mutually beneficial. If they or you, offered to do something together, would that interest you if it seems like something that makes sense?

I've had my eye on this for several years now, waiting for a discount to appear, and today was finally the day! I went crazy and picked up JP6K as well, which I really, really like, especially the bottom end it can pump out. Quality stuff!

Korg Odyssey, bx-oberhausen, Proxima, PolyMax, GR8, JP6K, Union, Atomika,
Invader 2, Flow Motion, Olga, TRK 01, Thorn, Spire, VG Iron

I was surprised how good the JP6K sounds when I demo'd it. The only reason I didn't buy it is because it's quite limited. Great, great sound though.

Especially when you realise it's been around since 2011. The main reason I picked it up is because it is quite limited - no buggerizing about half the day trying to get a sound out of it, it either works or it doesn't. The GUI can be a bit challenging, though. Not just the tiny size but also the contrast.

As for Viper, holy hobs of hell! Find a nice, sedate bass patch and turn up the resonance - THAT is how a low-pass filter is supposed to work. It's brutal!

Thanks guys, your support helps me continue working on my products and improve them!

Hmm, I am not really sure what kind of partnership they would be interested in as we are talking about two independent products. Anyway, I am sure they will be fine with a Virus import feature, and then the fun can begin
