iZotope Stutter Edit 2 inexpensive right now, but don't let that ruin the plugin for you. It's a very deep plugin and very useful made for way more than just Stutter Edits.

One major setback of this is you only have 2 bars to work with which makes it pretty useless for transitions. Transitions typically run between 4 to 8 bars.

Also, 'wet' of each effect boosts the volume, pull it down an you got no signal unless dry is up, in which case you dont get 100% wet.

For the above 2 reasons, this is clearly not designed for long transitions

Horses for courses. I think if you want to map out extended sequences of modulation you are much better served with something like Shaper Box, whereas Stutter Edit is really intended for improvisational, MIDI based use where 2 bars of modulation per MIDI event are more than enough.

EDIT: ...and actually, if you wanted to map out a longer sequence of modulation with Stutter Edit you could still do that by assigning different sections of a longer sequence to different MIDI keys, and then triggering them one after the other (or repeating them), so technically you can have infinite sequential bars of modulation if you like.

you can only have 1 preset at a time though which means 1 instance of the stutter module

No, you're wrong, read trackbout's post again. :smack:

Stutter edit's ability to control stutters (getsures) with a MIDI is why it's so awesome to improvise and experiment quickly.

Yes, Shaperbox has pretty similiar features on paper, but it's not as convenient for playing live, and does not yield so great results then.

ya that's not how the plugin works. what you're calling a "preset" they call a "gesture", and you can use as many gestures as you have keys on your MIDI controller. so if you have 88 keys you can load 88 gestures into the same bank at once and that gives you 176 unique bars of modulation to trigger on the fly, or program a MIDI sequence for in your DAW.

Is there a way to control the send level to the reverb? Let's say I have a gesture that covers a whole bar, but I only want to send the signal during the second quarter to the reverb. Is that somehow possible?

When you upgrade to Stutter Edit 2, do you get to keep Stutter Edit 1 or does it get replaced?
Call me a masochist but I’ve actually grown accustomed to the SE1 interface :o

You can use both at the same time.

Reading some other posts, I want to add that I like to use SE2 with MIDI, but imho the short sequencer length really sucks and was disappointing. I don't really understand why they put a big switch button in to select MIDI or Auto mode, but kept the sequencer length at an absolute minimum for some reason? It's a good plugin, but I would def use it much more if the sequencer was significantly longer.
