Yeah, not good. More info here: https://appleinsider.com/articles/19/02 ... onnections
BTW, listened to your Zebra2 pieces on your website. So good. Can’t wait for Zebra3 to come.

Hmm? That’s one guy quoted in both articles, and a specific program, Ableton Live. I’m not at all saying he’s wrong, but I don’t think it’s a 100% verifiable bug if one person reports it. More like a verifiable bug for that guy with his usb audio card and that DAW.
I’m no even seeing a rash of people on the main Ableton forums talking about this, which is strange because it’s a crowd of users who would fit every criteria presented here, new 2018 macbooks, USB audio cards and Ableton Live.

This is all over the internet on the Logic forums, macrumors, appleinsider, reddit, ...
But since Apple is a religion there might be a choice whether or not to believe in that bug.

Yes, since Apple is a religion it's always good to ignore that the two articles posted in this thread cite the same single person as a source.

Reading more up on it now it seems like a software solvable issue, hopefully Apple get off their ass and solve it?

Intel created a bug with old 2 x 2.4 MacBooks about ten years ago specifically that affected Live, glitch created by the powering down of the chip. You could run a little code that kept the CPU from powering down which stopped it, and Apple eventually fixed it at the OS level. I don't see anything about a chip taking over the USB bus that's potentially harder to solve, although the results are worse!

We tested brand new MacMinis: No problems with any USB 2.0 interface found. No crackles or anything so far.

A friend of mine just returned his 2018 Macbook Pro because he was plagued by this issue (among other things). He considered switching to Windows at this point but then he found a NOS 2015 Macbook Pro for a good price. Now he is as happy as anyone can be.

I personally will use my 2015 model until it dies. Then I'll look at what Apple has to offer but looking at the last years I doubt that I'll still be in their camp after that. The bang for the buck is currently just abysmal.

Still using my mid 2012 MBP and doing fine.
Hoping the new 16.5” MBP Apple is launching will be good, even though they’re supposed to transition to their own cpu chips next year.

i bet it's the inconsistency of the bug that's taking them so damn long to fix.
my 15" that i returned had dropouts on firewire, while the 13" and Mini i have now seem to be working fine.

I had prepared a very thorough statement for this question, but I ended up with this: “When Native Instruments offers you a tap into their customer base, you’d be out of your mind to turn that down” [still true...].

It's a one-off [what we thought in 2018...], just like the 2016 Diva sale was one, and the recent Hive sale. We'll do more customer surveys for sure (with coupon codes as rewards) and we'll keep doing intro offers.
Wow, you even went to the trouble to edit your old post from back then :tu: (got notified about it by KVR since you quoted me)...
So let's just say u-he DOES do sales, they may be more infrequent than others but once is an Ooops, but twice is a habit already...
Thankfully I sold most of my u-he plugins before this happened, but thought about selling Zebra and Hive as well, I can scratch that now. :(

Merry whatever to all of you,

Cheers,

Tom

Well, I obviously edited it because some people have the habit of making quotes with added vitriol ;-)
