MSoundFactory is trying to be more like Falcon.

MSF seems to have mimicked Zebra a bit in the semi-modular design and in the oscillator effects (not sure if Zebra mimicked anything in those regards when it was created). Many will bash Melda's GUI, workflow, modulation system--some will sing its praises. I haven't used MSF in months, and I don't hear it calling me. Some day I'll give it another go, perhaps.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

Well ... a lot of the popular edm plugins focus on a certain "in your face"-sound-charecteristic, while i would describe Zebras sound as universal, warm and brilliant at the same time. Havent found that elsewhere :hail:
There is a lot more to EDM than just a generic saw with in-your-face sound characteristics.

By EDM I mean basically any electronic music supposed to be danceable, from deep techno to DnB and psytrance, not just Deadmaus-like stuff or whatever represents manstream EDM now.

Just saying, I see Zebra may have its place in these styles too but probably mostly as a source of background pads and textures rather than a main instrument.
Dude seriously , zebra has (almost ) everything under the hood to create snappy basses , evolving pads , leads , effects ,kicks, snares etc..
If you didn't succeed in doing that, it's becasue of your incompetetence .
The reason why zebra is so popular is because it's a workhorse synth that delivers

Anyway. How did this even evolve to such a topic? :hihi:
a kvr thread going off-topic? is that even possible? i suspect a woman diverted it... :o

It would be great if my wife could do the heavy lifting outside, change the oil in the car and clean the dirty bits on the bicycles...

I'd be happy to float around the house in a dress doing the dusting :)
That's a bit narrow minded and not the point. If i look at the last century (a male domintaed century), then i'd say that we dont have another century. I live in saxony, a region of the former socialistic GDR, and if someone asks me if equality is a good thing, i can clearly answer "yes". Women from former socialistic countries are far more emancipated. Does anyone believe that the womens image in our western countries is healthy? Maybe ... but then i'd say, that you've grown up in the wrong place.

And still very useful!

I knew someone would bring this up

No, it's because i succeeded in doing that in other synths.

Really, you can't master every synth in existence if you want to actually make music, at some point you stick with what works best for you.

Yes, Zebra is popular, but in some genres it's less so. I know some people who make psytrance and use Zebra but other synths seem more popular in this specific niche.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

My opinion on Zebra is that there's better options for my genre needs. Zebra for EDM is not my first choice. It just doesn't have the presence I crave. It's a safe option for all-arounder though.

this is not HPC...and a few of you got a warning...I suggest you just stay out if this thread, because I will suspend anyone who keeps the hpc bullshit going...even in jest...please understand I am pissed off at the behavior in this thread so I suggest you dont try me

17 posts removed...but in fairness to or three were only quoting HPC posts but were deleted too...so 14 or 15 posts way off topic :?
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Took me way too long to finally come back to and appreciate Zebra. When I demoed it like 12 years ago I was decidedly unimpressed and thought the sound quality was very flat and sterile. The recent sale convinced me to try it again, and boy was I glad I did. Really like the Dark Zebra presets and Zebra HZ's potential for sound FX and crafting. It seems like a worthy successor to Absynth for such things, now that it's looking more and more like Absynth has been abandoned.

Edit: Can I just add, it's a wonderful time to be making music, and a wonderful time to be alive. We have so many amazing tools and so much power available to us.
A well-behaved signature.

I suggest ban. IMO, both U-he threads I follow are useless now. They both got hijacked by U-he fanboys who keep downvoting and attacking anything that does not fully complement U-he products. You can't have a logical discussion about stuff if one side of the discussion is constantly being pummeled by fanbois. I try to come to KVR to get educated and get objective perspectives on stuff. Not to flame one side against another.

Well at all least the "thumb votes" can be seen as on-topic. It'd be nice if people quoting HPC let us know that's where it's from.

Down vote all you want, but the three Zebras consistently find a place in my system. And on most days.

I am eagerly waiting for Zebra 3.
Might be sooner then later, perhaps....

Just a thought. Duke Nukem Forever was announced in 1997 and came out in 2011. Earning a Guinness World record for the longest development time for a game. Zebra 3 was announced in 2012 and it will soon be 2021. Life is too short.
