Yeah, I've seen others get it for free on other forums. Seems pretty random, can't see what parameters you have to meet to get it. I have a fair bit of stuff but obviously not the right combo to trigger my account. Maybe I've been a naughty boy this year.JO512 wrote: Thu Dec 24, 2020 5:27 pm What's going on? Did I get it for free because of some bug or something? Perhaps I should have kept my mouth shut and just used it! But I really don't feel right about using something like this illegitimately.

Well said! Peter you are a treasure and IK can be proud to have you here in this forum!Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Wed Dec 23, 2020 8:19 pm ...and AmpliTube 5 is what delivers. The proof is in the widespread acceptance that AmpliTube 5 raises the bar. There is a huge list of regular users - not media or anybody affiliated with IK - heaping accolades upon AmpliTube 5 as they are amazed at the sound and sonic improvement that it brings to the table. Trust them, not me, if you are that jaded about whatever I or IK might have done to you to cause such ire. Also, trust them because after you continue to get personal, I will no longer be engaging you. The users have spoken, if you trust them AmpliTube 5 is likely a safe bet and well worth it. If you don't, that's your right too.

which was my entire point. thanks for admitting that.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Thu Dec 24, 2020 4:48 pm More than simple normalizing, less than a recode from the ground up.
don't get me wrong, i don't much care for those old models, to be honest, because i'm perfectly happy with using the Marshalls in the Classic Brit Collection pretty much exclusively, and the new cabinets finally make it worthwhile to run Amplitube as the only thing in the chain (rather than using it in cab bypass mode).
also, (and admittedly i've only used the CS cab section, i haven't tried the new one), the mics are finally all phase aligned and the sound doesn't go to shit become phasey the minute you have your mics at different distances. i've been banging on this for a long time, so i'm really happy that the IK team finally fixed this. this is easily confirmed with MAutoAlign test, where Amplitube 4 cabinets went ~26 samples out of alignment at closest and farthest positions, while Amplitube 5 stays in alignment at all times. this is massive improvement!
so overall, i actually love the update, and i feel like i can finally recommend Amplitube to newbies without a load of caveats like "don't use built-in cabinets".
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

This is a chunk of what we were trying to achieve and something I enjoy hearing. If people were bypassing the cabs before, they would almost certainly be making a mistake to do so now outside of specific use cases where it makes sense, which is where we want to be. Obviously there were other improvements but there are some - both in sonic quality as well as QoL - that seem to check off certain boxes. VIR™ is a large part of the former, and the gear visibility filtering (outside of a preset with a "dangling participle" or "hanging chad" here and there making it appear to not work 100%) the latter.Burillo wrote: Thu Dec 24, 2020 6:19 pm so overall, i actually love the update, and i feel like i can finally recommend Amplitube to newbies without a load of caveats like "don't use built-in cabinets".

What happened to the 4x12 Closed Vintage 2 cab?
This was a straight 4x12 cab with Greenbacks. It seems to be missing from AmpliTube 5.
The angled 1960A 4x12 Closed Vintage 1 is present (now called 4x12 Closed Vintage), but not the 1960B.
So AT5 drops the extremely useful and historically significant vintage 1960B with Greenbacks, but keeps the janky AmpliTube 1.0 amps that literally no one uses? WTF is going on here?
There are now no straight Marshall cabs in AmpliTube 5, and only a single straight Marshall cab (with V30s) in AT Slash, and MAYBE one (with G12T-75s) in AT Joe Satriani (the graphics don't show that cab as straight anymore, if it still is.)
There are now no straight cabs with Greenbacks in AmpliTube at all, anymore, in any collection, which is crazy because that is literally the sound of rock n' roll. It's the only cab ACDC ever used for 45 years. Dear Malcolm Young is rolling over in his grave, rest his soul.

So overall I'm really enjoying Amplitube 5. I upgraded to max and there is a lot there. I'm setting up my high gain rhythm presets and started using the Dime noise gate which works really well. I notice there is a filter setting on the noise gate. Set to lower frequencies it seems to tone suck the high end. What exactly is this filter doing, does anybody know?

So I had a chance to download AT5 cs yesterday. I have a bunch of the expansions already so a bunch of gear was immediately available to me. Here are my quick impressions:
1. This is a totally new instrument. If you are going to drop it into an existing production, it will need to be retweeked as everything sounds different.
2. Many of the old presets are gone. The updated ones usually sound better or at least different. Like 2/3 of old presets seem to be missing.
3. Everything is loaded at once whether you own it or not. Then it gives you messages if you press something you don’t own or try a function that only is available in paid version of AT5. Tacky Ik, just really tacky. Feels like some iPad app that keeps begging for money. Even some functions trigger the same begging behavior.
4. Gear generally sounds solid. More emphasis on dryer sounds.
5. I get the feeling that at some point the law of diminishing returns comes into play. Where if you have 50 amp models and you can’t get a great sound or what your looking for, the answer is not some more amp models.. maybe time to look at a different manufacturer or check your ears:)

That works for gear but not the features in CS that are exposed to the user and available to be clicked on and pop up that message. IK could’ve hidden that stuff but exposed it with the annoying nag popup.SLiC wrote: Mon Dec 28, 2020 8:26 pmYou can turn off the stuff you don't own and just see the stuff you do own (button with X and tick top right)musicdoc wrote: Mon Dec 28, 2020 7:50 pm 3. Not sure if this possible “bug” has been brought up, but how do you get/navigate to the mixer if you maxed out your stomps with (what, only 5 allowed?) and the full view navigation window at the bottom ends at the cab, not letting you get into the post cab mixer/insert section and go further to the right (as the right side gear panel is not collapsable). If you add too much gear before or after the cab, i’m not able to click anywhere to get back to/into the mixer for editing etc.
