Maybe you should not talk about 'the only DAWs' if you do not know Live (and Bitwig), one of the 3 main influences of S1 (the other are Cubase and Tracktion's Waveform).LawrenceF wrote: Wed Nov 18, 2020 9:39 am^^This.^^ Studio One may have the only two way browser on the market. Why did you leave Studio One?

Maybe you should try reading what I actually wrote. I used the phrase "may have" for a very specific reason, because I don't know. And I never actually wrote the phrase "the only DAW's" that you made up out of thin air and attributed to me in quotes.

Yes, and I told you that it would have been better to not write that, because you obviously don't know what you are talking about.LawrenceF wrote: Wed Nov 18, 2020 12:28 pm Maybe you should try reading what I actually wrote. Well, if your 'only' includes also other software than DAWs, it's not less wrong, on the contraryLawrenceF wrote: Wed Nov 18, 2020 12:28 pm And I never actually wrote the phrase "the only DAW's" that you made up out of thin air and attributed to me in quotes.

Please look up the word "may" in the English dictionary, and go argue with someone else who cares.
At any rate, to the grown up person I replied to earlier, I've not personally seen any other product that can export so easily to the browser via simple drag and drop. Audio, MIDI, *.musicloop, every FX chain from every mixer channel all at once, audio stems with or without FX processing, etc. But of course, just because I've not seen something doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.- used to indicate possibility or probability

I know. And if you wrote that like now instead of using 'may' I wouldn't have written my responseLawrenceF wrote: Wed Nov 18, 2020 1:01 pm At any rate, to the grown up person I replied to earlier, I've not personally seen any other product that can export so easily to the browser via simple drag and drop.
We're not talking about some obscure DAW, but Live (also Bitwig has a comparable browser).
S1 has at least 3 main influences: Cubase, Live and Tracktion's Waveform (sadly they don't know DP).
My (minor) gripe with S1's browser is that you can't drop tracks to it, but dragging them them out of other projects works. In Live you can do that to generate new projects (actually sets), but not drop into existing ones (less of a problem than the one of S1
S1's way of selecting between MIDI and their own format when dropping clips to the browser really baffled me the first time I encountered it.

I haven't had to use it in a while but Transform to Audio is imo the best in class Track Freeze in the market.macmuse wrote: Wed Nov 18, 2020 6:05 pm Being able to drag MIDI files as MIDI files to a folder on my computer via that browser is one of my favorite things about S1. That and the transform to audio feature.

Cakewalk (and before Sonar) has always been able to drag-export both to the browser and Windows folders. Sampling is a breeze with it.LawrenceF wrote: Wed Nov 18, 2020 9:39 am^^This.^^ Studio One may have the only two way browser on the market. It's also the only DAW I've ever used that can download from the cloud (SoundCloud) directly to the timeline. I suspect PreSonus Sphere will allow that pretty soon as well.

Sure, it’s easy, but it could be a lot easier for MIDI. Currently, you can’t drag multiple MIDI parts to the browser at once as separate files. Drag/drop or not, many other programs have a batch export feature.LawrenceF wrote: Wed Nov 18, 2020 1:01 pmI've not personally seen any other product that can export so easily to the browser via simple drag and drop.
Then, when you drag MIDI data back into the arrange view, it will often open a new song without asking. Presonus have known about that for years, no clue why they’ve never fixed it.
There aren’t a lot of audio programs with as much a focus on drag/drop, but missing functionality isn’t made more convenient by whether I’m dragging an item or not.

Yeah. I wish they would address this at some point.oneway wrote: Sun Dec 27, 2020 6:59 pm Sure, it’s easy, but it could be a lot easier for MIDI. How are you dragging the midi into S1? If you drag the file into the top area like the ruler it will try to open the midi file as a new song if you drag it directly into the arranger it will drag in the midi. Then, when you drag MIDI data back into the arrange view, it will often open a new song without asking.
