I demoed Black Box HG2 a few weeks ago. I don't know if its any better than my Ozone 8 multiband exciter tbh. Or maybe I'm missing something.
There is definitely a difference, however Ozone exciter is great and far easier to use.

Both great but VSM-3 is way more versatile.

Don't get me wrong. Some older plugins sound great to this day. But NSEQ-2 doesn't. It has a nice GUI and very basic 'digital' EQ under it. 7 years ago it could be a good option but today it brings nothing to the table.
Even 7 years ago I wasn't excited by any Millenia plugin.

Though I mainly play guitar, I have a Fender P bass for tracking, so I bought the Ampeg V-4B bass amp sim this morning, my 2nd Ampeg (B15N was 1st) from Plugin Alliance.

Everything I wanted in this one for bass; huge fat and gainy, with heart thumping power. $19.99 for this after coupon????

I never get tired of the enormous menu of baked in cabs/mics/console recording chain mixes in PA's amp sims. Nembrini kills it every time for them, an amp sim genius!

Last voucher - looking for a simple but musical EQ now - so Mäag Audio EQ4 or Millennium NSEQ?

What do you mean by musical? Character? Dangerous Bax would be the ticket there. NSEQ- 2 gets panned above. EQ4 has really wide sweeping slopes so is quite hard to use as a general EQ e.g. gain too much in one band will affect the ones either side. Some would argue the air band is its one redeeming feature

Musical EQ? I found the EQ4 to be very transparent so it's a non musical EQ imo.

OK that's just how PA describe it:

'The Mäag Audio EQ4 is a musical EQ, not a surgical EQ'

Must admit I looked at the Bax too but wanted to go for one in the $29 band ideally - although I guess I could go to $39, with the voucher its' still a great deal

I think i have a different understanding about the term "musical EQ". If it doesn't add any mojo to the source.. :hihi:

I don't know - I just read a review of the hardware it is based on and even that says:

'If I could use one word to sum up the sound of this EQ, it would be 'clarity', which is a strange thing for an EQ designed to colour a signal. I'm given to understand that this is down to Cliff Mäag designing the EQ to introduce very little phase shift. Whatever the reason, it's a lovely sonic paradox to explore with your own ears!'

Maag EQ was already tested and it doesn't have any saturation, harmonics or other 'musical' features. It's just EQ curves without bells and whistles. For some it's not musical for others it's opposite: clean sounding EQ is musical.

NSEQ is clean as much as digital EQ can be.

The SSL 4K G channel seems ideal for orchestral sessions.

There are a few videos on YT comparing the free Luftikus EQ with the Maag EQ4. To me they sound slighty different but very similar.
Any opinions?

The N is nice too.
Signatures are so early 2000s.
