Well, there sure is nothing further to add to this. Boy do you know your SX inside out.
Tho I would like to point out that SX has more than its fair share of keyboard shortcuts as well. Shouldn't have been too difficult to reason out that it has a shortcut for selecting the pencil too.
If you really think eXT will have all that Cubase has anytime soon (read: ever) you don't just have zero knowledge on SX, but are also more than a little naive.
Too bad there isn't an ignore function in these forums...
Oh, and thanks Jorgen for pointing out that shortcut, it sure does make the process more streamlined.

Sheesh, the note-editing in eXT is just light-years behind that of, say, SX._starcraft_ wrote:he he I personally love the piano roll......no stupid pencils or such. just double click and boom....so fast!
So yeah, I have to second CreepJoint's comments about the midi-editing. I find it limited, clumsy and slow. This is my biggest problem with eXT.
Obviously it's a killer app, though.
go play with yor pencils n4b!
selecting pencils, arrows and that shit in sx is what I call slow and stupid......not to mention the awful clumsy sx editing windows.
as jorgen says the alt/ctrl keys are your friends(like in anoy other app)....so if u wanna improve yor user experience learn to use'em .
once EXt improves the audio sequencer and adds a sample editor......then sx is just a redundant sequencer and only a retard would continue using it over ext.
also the scroll-whell (function changeable 'on the fly' by use of a shortcut) and the up/down octave button are your friends
You just need to click in a few notes and then you copy them quickly (crtl) and move the copies left or right (scrollwheel), and/or transpose them (scrollwheel), change their lenght (scrollwhell) and maybe copy them again. This behaviour work of course not only with single notes but also with (lassoed) multiple selected notes.
(for instance: click in a three-notes-chord, lasso it, copy the notes, move them by use of the scrollwhell, change scrollwheel-behaviour to transpose and transpose the chord. Then copy this chord again etc.
Afterwards you can hit crtl+a, change the mousewheel-behaviour to resize and set all notes to the lenght you want the chords to have
- this all takes just a few seconds)
- I doubt that it gets any faster

I'd say you don't really know both applications enough if you make such a statementonce EXt improves the audio sequencer and adds a sample editor......then sx is just a redundant sequencer and only a retard would continue using it over ext.

Yeah visa - it's worth diving in a bit with the eXT midi editing a bit. You start to find faster and faster ways of doing things.visa tapani wrote: Oh, and thanks Jorgen for pointing out that shortcut, it sure does make the process more streamlined.
I still have failed to learn it all myself either, and sometimes I don't understand why shortcuts and shortcuts. Then it becomes more obvious later.
I too found eXT's midi editor painful to start with - in fact I found the whole program a bit painful to be honest. But once I spent a little time with it I realised I was probably more painful to it than the other way around.

Well, that doesn't seem all slow, but there's more to midi editing than that. Take for instance programming intricate drum fills. But you're right, I do need to do a bit more research before I start enumerating what's missing. However, it's sometimes difficult to find out what's there with all the documentation so scattered...jens wrote: (for instance: click in a three-notes-chord, lasso it, copy the notes, move them by use of the scrollwhell, change scrollwheel-behaviour to transpose and transpose the chord. What, did you decide I wasn't all that bad?jens wrote:...

Thanks to the hype on XT lately i had to try it again
I must admit that the first time i tried it i felt stupid.
The 2cond time it all was so clear, and i loved it.
I am going to buy it soon (the 39euro is totaly worth it)
But i have to wait for my new mobo, cpu, and memory.
The other one here just drops out with a ram error (Even when surfing the net, so it´s not xt´s fault)

settin the quantize to /32 ,/64 that won't help u do intricate enough drum fills? what does Sx do that ext can't that is so essential for drum fills? i don't get u.....u talk like u never done any music in your life.
from now on /ignored
honestly . gives us some real differences or pls shut up.

ah k i just seen it has a sample editor in 1.29 beta......is it a new feature?jens wrote:I'd say you don't really know both applications enough if you make such a statementonce EXt improves the audio sequencer and adds a sample editor......then sx is just a redundant sequencer and only a retard would continue using it over ext.![]()
I just assumed it didn't have one as everyone is asking for it in the EXT forum and its in the "want" list.

also keep in mind that there is the composer which can help a lot
(you open the composer from the 'file'-menu in the midi-editor)

nope - the sample editor is there for a long time -it's only not as powerful as one would wish it was_starcraft_ wrote:ah k i just seen it has a sample editor in 1.29 beta......is it a new feature?jens wrote:I'd say you don't really know both applications enough if you make such a statementonce EXt improves the audio sequencer and adds a sample editor......then sx is just a redundant sequencer and only a retard would continue using it over ext.![]()

I can't even do it in the sample-editor right now - you're completely on the wrong track, mate_starcraft_ wrote:u sayin u like the audio sequencer right?....hmmm....jens wrote:

what would be nice though is to have fade in and fade out in main arrange.....by clickin/draggin the top left-right corner of every audio clip. (like in other sequencers).
