Well, after a 3 month self imposed hiatus from this forum, I have returned to post my music and comment on the music of others. I have a lot to catch up on.
In the 3 months I've been away, I've finished 4 albums. The first of them was my musical "Jerry And Company". I will be posting a track a day from this musical over the next 17 days. I hope you enjoy it for those who enjoy musicals.
We start with the overture, which includes the music of several of the songs to follow.

Good to see you back Wags and happy new year.
Well done on completing all those music projects - your Overture is a nice arrangement and I look forward to hearing more of your tracks
For a complete change, please consider doing some 1970s style, bass-heavy dub reggae!
(Instrumental rather than vocal, probably!)

Unfortunately, reggae is the one genre that I just can't get into. I don't feel that rhythm at all and if I tried to do it, it would sound absolutely horrible. But thanks for the suggestion and thanks for the listen to my track.dark water wrote: Fri Jan 01, 2021 12:51 pm Good to see you back Wags and happy new year.

Hey Dr. W - been a bit. I notice you have some good patches I'd buy on your site. I'll buy them soon when some flow comes My way. I think you should do reggae too though.
Here's My reggae track:
lol. How bad could yours be?

Believe it or not, I enjoyed listening to that.kingozrecords wrote: Fri Jan 01, 2021 9:06 pmHey Dr. W - been a bit. I notice you have some good patches I'd buy on your site. I'll buy them soon when some flow comes My way. I think you should do reggae too though.

1. It was obviously not meant to be taken seriously given the lyrics and the way you sung it. Also, some of the leads were hysterical.
2. You've got the basic reggae rhythm down. That's my biggest problem. I don't feel the beat at all because it's all on off beats. I wouldn't even know how to do that. The only way I could even attempt to pull off a Reggae track is if I downloaded a MIDI rhythm track and wrote around it, which is something I really don't like doing. It makes me feel like I'm cheating. No, I don't use beats and loops when I do my songs. Everything is hand played with the exception of maybe an ARP patch from time to time and I do very few of those.
Anyway, hysterical song. Loved it!

Thanks
. And I actually did the drums and the trumpet for it. It was just in the case of the guitar that there's samples and a lead from https://looperman.com that inspired Me. I believe it was by MamaGbeats. Would you believe it was that one sample which inspired the whole song. It reminded Me of that reggae/pop song a few years back by Twenty One Pilots or something and I'd enjoyed it. Anyways, when the guy does the voice he puts this simplistic put-on voice like as if imitating someone child-like and simple.
So, I put on a joker voice instead and did the same thing, lol. Lots of fun. I put a lot of thought into stuff sometimes.
