you may have been one of my tutors :o
if so, i sincerely apologise
Birmingham, UK
:phew:
manc i studied :hihi:
Did come across an ex student on a forum once many years ago... Eventually lost patience with his BS and trashed him (quite venomously for me) as he was being a total asshole towards others... Didn't realise who he was until afterwards!!! Never liked him anyway when I taught him... Had a nasty streak towards his peers, but maaan did I savage him on that forum😂All perfectly polite but soooo cutting... I nearly feel guilty, but naaaah, not quite! 😭
well, i wasn't so much an arsehole, as very odd. compared to the others.
eg: do this beatles track using modern techniques...
the rest managed to drop a track that sounded like the beatles everyone knows from the radio, in a modern studio.
some idiot drops a glitchy rev number 9.
cue stunned faces all round as we share :hihi:

wags

i do apologise, but i will make up for it by dropping some comments, when i get in the (new) studio :D
im just eating me tea :hihi:

Okay, this is going to sound like a stupid question but I figured I'll try anything for the new year.

Right now, I have all my music (tons of it) on Soundcloud. Should I try to get it on Spotify or some other platform where I can maybe make some money from it? Or is it so bad that I'll only end up embarrassing myself? Please be honest. I know Aaron Aardvark has his music on some platform and I see he places fairly well with some of his songs as far as chart position. I don't know if he makes any money from it but whatever.

In 43 years of making music, I have never REALLY tried making money off of it. Oh I've had a song published 30 years ago and entered a few song contests, but for the most part, I have done this just for the love of making music. But I figured if there is any chance that I can develop a following, why not?

Obviously, I know nothing about any of this and don't even know if I qualify for getting something on Spotify or any platform for that matter. Or can anyone do this. I know getting published back in the day was almost impossible.

If there is anybody who can give me any kind of info at all that will help, I will be very grateful. And yes, if you think it's a waste of time, tell me that too.

Thanks.

wagtunes,
Now listening to "My Turn": sounds very much like Broadway theatrical music. Good job! :). I think it is your turn (to be in the spotlight)! ;)

Thanks Aaron. Any info you can give me on streaming and stuff would be greatly appreciated as I know nothing about that side of the business.

There are about 9 or 10 characters in this play (script is written) so all the Vocaloids get in on this album. The last song features me doing two parts and all of then together. But that's a long way off.

This song, the lead character wonders when it's going to be his turn to finally get what he wants out of life. It's one of the highlights of the musical. Hope you enjoy it.

2nd track from my upcoming CD "Jerry And Company"

Lyrics:

When Will It Be My Turn

Wow... that made me laugh.. and
total visualization of a stage and character .. the ending.. into the next scene.. waiting, waiting.. ;)
btw.. nice point made (How many of us have thought that, I wander ) ;)

I don't expect any would think you wouldn't be productive on your sabbatical

As bad as 2020 has been for obvious reasons, musically it was my best year by far. The progress I made was exponential. Of course I was pretty bad at one time.

wagtunes,
I was just being kind of silly when I said it is your turn to be in the spotlight; it had nothing to do with streaming. Though kind of referring to you being in the spotlight with releasing a lot of songs on this forum. I can't think of any specialized knowledge I have regarding streaming that you wouldn't already know.

3rd track from my upcoming CD "Jerry And Company"

In this track, Jerry sings about how he's not settling anymore. It's all or nothing. Either he makes it or he doesn't. Some of my better lyrics on this one.

Lyrics:

It's All Or Nothing

It's all or nothing
Nothing for me
It's all or nothing
You can disagree
I'm tired of scratching and clawing for scraps
I'm tired of snake eyes when I'm playing craps
I'm tired of living like those other chaps
It's all or nothing for me

It's all or nothing
Shoot for the stars
It's all or nothing
The fanciest cars
I'm tired of dreaming with nothing to show
I'm tired of scheming and losing my dough
I'm tired of living oh Lord don't you know
It's all or nothing for me

One of these days it's all gonna fall in place
One of these days a smile on my face
One of these days I won't be a disgrace
It's all or nothing

It's all or nothing
Now my last stand
It's all or nothing
In the palm of my hand
I'm tired of being the last one in line
I'm tired of working and breaking my spine
I'm tired of hearing that it will be fine

It's all or nothing
It's all or nothing
It's all or nothing
It's all or nothing
It's all or nothing for me

wagtunes,
Not surprisingly, it sounds like a Broadway theater song, because you are good at that. Well done! :)

Actually, that's what it is. I wrote a whole play, script and music. Over the next 14 days, I'll be posting the entirety of the soundtrack.

Another catchy little number - melody is once again very strong, although very much creating a different mood to the first one...love those pauses in the melodic flow...perfectly timed!

Miles Davis: "In music, silence is more important than sound"

You have the 'silences' nailed in this one....especially just before that dramatic final section.

Did I miss song number 2?
