I just made something else in MTA. Its a simple TS style overdrive pedal. Please try it out with the amp of your choice and tell me what you think? Does it sound good? Does it have enough gain? Was I too conservative with the tone controls? Are the modes "different" enough? Thanks.

Sounds close to an original Ibanez TS. But could use a bit more gain.also it's a tad shrill in the highs.

Hi Chandler,
Sounds fine. I can see what you've done with the multiparameters.

Re the modes.
My understanding is that Tube Screamers have symmetrical clipping (odd harmonics), and Boss overdrives have asymmetrical clipping (odd plus even harmonics), so would have thought your 'normal' mode would have just (or more of) the odds.
I'm wondering whether it would be better to just have a yellow pedal as well as the green one, with appropriate odds/even settings, and forget about the 'Odds' mode.

I just lined up all my screamer plugins. They all have slightly different gain and EQ characteristics but for me that's not crucial (those things can be tweaked), BUT, the crucial thing for me is the way the plugin responds. I'm not even talking about the much desired and discussed 'cleaning up as you turn your vol knob down'. What I mean is the sensation that the notes flow into each other, a sort of legato rather than a choppiness. I don't know how this is achieved..perhaps some kind of compression associated with certain diodes/opamps or something? The best example of this (in my collection) is the Ignite TS-999.

BTW, after pasting your code I'm not seeing the green pedal pic, just the knobs at the top.

Cool, will check! Just the graphics design needs some work haha :)

Underoath77 - Thanks for the feedback. I made a new version with a hot switch for more gain and 2 new modes that should have slightly less presence.

goldglob - Thanks for the help. I got rid of the "normal" mode and changed the odd mode to normal. I'll make a "yellow" version in the future. I added 2 more different modes and a hot switch for more gain. I'm glad to MPs were easy to understand. As far as the compression thing, I agree that is part of the TS sound, but its hard to tell how far off I am. The gain, level, amp, etc all contribute to that and unfortunately it seems like all TS are a bit different. I'll work on it, but that kind of compression might be in a separate pedal.Could you check out the new version and see if the hot mode helps? Edit - The reason there is no GUI is because I attached a preset instead of the device to KVR. Sharing a device would require me to host it someplace else and the user has to install it instead of just copy/paste. Hopefully the final version will be included in MTA with a proper GUI.

Vojtech - Yeah it is pretty bad.

Chandler,
Sounding great.
The hot switch doesn't really help with the compression thing I mentioned, but I don't know what to suggest...perhaps it is just a combination of gain characteristic and EQ settings. All I know is that some pedals have it, some don't...sorry not much help.
Just wondering why the level mode is called the level mode?
And thanks for info re GUI.

Underoath77 - Thanks

goldglob - Thanks, I'm glad to hear you like it even though the compression characteristics aren't perfect. I have some ideas to increase the compression, but I'd have start from scratch. I think I'll leave this one as is and make something based on the boss version with more compression if I can. It might also be EQ, so I'll have to experiment with that too. As far as the "level" name I just used that is a synonym for balance. That mode isn't as mid "pushed" as the others. Maybe "flat" would be better. Any name suggestions? I'm open to changing it.

How about "Mid-Hump-Less"...just kidding.
"Flat" is good.

So you want feedback?
Simple, just right click the last module and generate feedback on channel 1. Then insert a feedback module first in the signal chain. ๐Ÿ˜‰

i'd like to try your MTA experiments - how can I import the codes you're posting?

Click on 'SELECT ALL', then copy (the usual computer copy thing), then click on the little paste button in the plugin toolbar.
Easy once you know!

Yey, this is fun, building own overdrives with feedback coloration Thank you!

Hi Chandler,
since you are a talented developer, add MTurboAmp a nice Jc-120  inspired amp and many Boss inspired pedals please!

Cheers
