Melda dynamic EQ vs Pro Q 3

Hi,
I just downloaded the demo of Pro Q 3 and tested Eiosis and some other EQs... I like some speccial EQs which I didn't manage to emulate with MdynamicEQ spontaniously but:

As an all in one solution I have to say, I am again very impressed by Meldas MdynamicEQ, which can do all the tricks. I now like the analog and saturation paramters very much and the harmonics and all the dynamic features... I first couldn't remember how to do ms per band but even that was easy. It is just a freak tool and I am greatful that is still developed further with the last improvement on saturation.

Thank you again, Melda! No need for a Pro Q 3 although it looks nice and is fast in the workflow, I don't know if it's faster than Melda in the end.

MAutodynamicEQ has a "Bands" view (waves Q10 style) which is so practical an speeds up my workflow a lot. The red LP and HP filter handles are also very fast to use.

My MAutodynamicEQ FRs for the future:
-18db LP and HP Filters (red handles)
-Resonant option for the HP and LP filters (red handles)
-The possibility to select several EQ bands in the Bands View and change them together.
-10 bands
-Linear phase option

I accept your opinion though I do not agree. But who cares? I mean I'm still not sure what the intention of this post was about in the first place :-D

Yeah, sorry, from time to time I just have to express my gratefullness for having Melda and yes, I bought Eiosis and finally tdr slick EQ GE & M and what I never wanted, entered that VMR thing The Neve EQ is just great, I think and I really like the 401 and the FG-2A (could get really close with softube, but there was something more living in it) and PSP MasterQ2 with which I could use to get really really really close to the sound of PSP E27 (which i didn't buy, but demoed) ... So there was really no money left. I tested many other EQs including Plugin Alliance and came so close with Eiosis Air in any case that I thought maybe ProQ 3 could do all that and I could have saved some money. So I first compared ProQ3 and Melda and could find nothing which I couldn't do in Melda... Melda could do even more with all that modulation stuff.
Maybe tomorrow I can get close to Eiosis with Melda (but the workflow in Eiosis is so fantastic easy that it is just fun to work with) , but I will not come close to FG-N or TDR slick because the drive is really sweet in them. TDR slick EQ has so many nice colours which sounded softer than FG-N. B.t.w. the TDR Nova GE which I own since years and use it so seldom was such a pleasure to use for dynamic EQing the hell out of MDrum.

I meant my above post as a report on some research I did and I am curious what exactly (except the fantastic gui and workflow) is, what makes ProQ3 sooooo loved by anybody? I could be completely wrong with what I found and I think I am ready for some EQ testing with others. If I didn't know about meldas package power and without following meldas brilliant work for years I would of course have bought ProQ3 and other things... I even remember testing that melda stuff for the first days (years ago) thinking this could be a strange guy selling crap ;-), just because of that many free devices and the unusual GUIs.

Now these tests are more seminars and learning for me from the easy workflow from other devices how to do things 'manually' in melda and understanding how sound works.

Good man. The goal is to have melda replace every plugin

Thank you! MAutoDynamicEq can definitely do anything and much more, but ProQ3 is pretty good now, they took care to slowly clone our features haha :D, Melda serves as inspiration! What's better ;)

Are you serious?

Waiting for a response too. I need new stories to share with others, like that one time they thought they invented spectral processing...

Post

Haha :D ok, so automatic eq, dynamic eq, band peaks/shelves... I have been monitoring their progress for years :D
Edit: I heard they now have sonogram too ;)

I need to screenshot this, one can't make up stuff like this XD

That's interesting.

Post

i knew it. melda invented sonograms, dynamic eqs, filters... why are there actually any other companies alive?

btw still hoping it was just a joke

Needed to first look what band shelves are, then saw those can be found even in the first Ozone dynamic EQ versions and the most basic filter cookbooks. No need to further clarify dynamic EQs have been there for ages. Don't know where you "heard" they have sonograms, I can only speculate you mean the collision detection which ovelays red collision areas from other instances. For me very thin ice claims as usual.

May I ask where the spectrum grab feature is in melda plugins? Or slopes for low/high shelves? May I ask how to add 10 or 20 bands? I couldn't find tilting filters or a switch for zero latency/linear phase processing (and indeed the documentation for autodynamiceq or dynamiceq didn't mention it) :D I mean it can do anything Pro Q can, right?

Now i know why Melda really dislikes Apple, as they have invented everything as well :tu:
The GAS is always greener on the other side!
