Hi folks
Just downloaded the free amp which looks amazing as a give away, though I am struggling to get the right kind of tone with my Fender Strat. As title says, I am looking for an SRV/Hendrix/John Mayer bluesy rock tone, edge of break up. Clean amp should be the one to go for, with volume at max and gain/drive low, but its not working for me, the tone is just not close. This is the kind of ballpark I'm aiming for:
Amplitube also has a Fender amp pack (expensive) but it would be good to see if Blue Cat can get me in the ballpark.
Perhaps I need to load a cab impulse response file to improve the sound? Its not something I've looked into and don't really know what I need/where to look.
Any suggestions?

You may have to use Destructor or Axiom to get the perfect tone you are looking for (it requires precise control over the dynamics or the distortion), but to get as close as possible with the Free Amp plug-in you can try the following:
- start with the "Classic Drive - Crunchier" preset
- reduce the drive (down to 2 - 2.5 depending on the pickups that you have)
- boost the input gain (quite a bit) until it starts crunching the way you like.
You may have to adjust the EQ to your taste (or use a custom IF if you have one that you used to - in this case increase the tone control to 100%), but it should get you closer to the tone you are looking for than the clean amp, which is really designed for cleans.
And of course single coil pickups are mandatory here
