Convert tempo from 4/4 with triplets to 3/4

I'm trying to add a drum track to something I recorded in 4/4 with triplets and realised the plug-in I'm using (realidrums) does not give me good options in that case (due to the time signature and the fact I need to match it into the plugin), so I was thinking of converting what I recorded (4/4 at 48bpm) into a 3/4 at 48*3bpm.

Is there a way to convert the existing midi track so that every event duration gets multiplied by 3 so the whole thing will sound the same after tempo change and conversion?

If you hold alt and pull the length arrow, you can stretch the MIDI clip. I don't think the MIDI stretching/tempo modifying abilities are as strong as something like Ableton, though, so you might have to do some manual calculations to get it just right.
Linux version?

Thanks, this was a really good suggestion: I found the best way to make it work smoothly was to first render the original midi track to a wav and then stretch the midi events so that they would cover exactly the length of the wav.

I then adjusted the tempo and double checked that the events are falling where they should and everything seems to be at its place. Great!
