The columns of the main grid alternate between white and black. The key to unlocking the power of Zebra 2 is in figuring out which columns are black and which are white.highkoo wrote: Fri Jan 15, 2021 11:04 pm Urs is this thing white with black stripes, or black with white stripes...?

i never buy anything purely on a recommendation
of course, word of mouth is great (I get most of my work that way) and I'm pretty sure you get a ton of well deserved sales that way.... but I really think ppl should make an effort to try and give stuff a go before asking general opinions.....
i would hate to say 'buy this it amazing' cos I think so, only to find the other person spent his money and hated it

Would it be a silly question to ask what the historic moment is?

Zebra, obviously. New slogan: Zebra 2, so good, it's a moment, an experience, a lifetime.Double Tap wrote: Fri Jan 15, 2021 11:34 pm Would it be a silly question to ask what the historic moment is?

I often want opinions in cases where I lack expertise. One good example is synths. I've never owned any physical ones and my background is almost entirely stringed instruments. It's very much worth my while to read the opinions of people who are more experienced.AnX wrote: Fri Jan 15, 2021 8:36 pm never understood why someone wants other ppls opinions on anything.... you are the person who is gonna use it, make you own mind up.....
Yeah. While I know from others' experiences that it's excellent, it works in a way that I personally find off-putting. Instead of simple things being simple and difficult things being possible, everything seems to be difficult.
So anyways, thumbs up for getting opinions and also for trying things on your own.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

i agree with Anx, i certainly look for info on fora, and reviews. sometimes you get, mostly from fora a better view of the possibilities, like gentleclockdivider said some stuff were possible in Zebra2, that i wasn't aware.
but the decision to buy it was: the presets i made with the demo.. from scratch(y). and if i want to use them, well, i must by it.
also what influences a decision, because my arsenal of synths (synthesis possibilities, also because of soft modulars, like reaktor, VM, VCV and softube modular) and effects, is quite big. still all is used. if there is too much overlap or i can do the same thing, even better. the decision is simple.
Zebra2 (the ZebraHZ was also a part why i wanted Zebra2, but didn't use it, because the load of presets i have built, with Zebra2 are now translated into tracks; i start with sounds, and the way you play them..) is a real addition.
that is why i posted a WIP version of a track made with 2 Zebra2 instances (no effects, only the built in ones, wow i don't know what i do, but the presets i make, i must always lower the output level(s) quite extreme).
that is also a part of the decision: the sounds of course, not the presets, most of them i don't like, but i can learn from them. i know my programming of synths, but the workflow of Zebra2 is quite different, strangely, and that makes it also special for me.
strange sounds have evolved from it, every preset i have made, accept 2, play almost themselves in strange ways, the one or two that sounds almost normal, where the basic patches, oscillator drawing and settings.. although, sometimes the first basic patch is already.. o well..
listening to what someone else does with it, it can be in any genre, but i like the more experimental side, also contributes to a decision.
when i come to ZebraHZ, i believe, sounds unrecognizable... mangled them through every resonator, combi, etc.. or very simplistic ways can already achieve sounds that sound if there are many modules loaded.
in the example i posted, one of the Zebra2 instances, has only 2 oscillators, and a LFO, with a user drawn LFO..
that works already, it gives already a rich sound, which has enough modulation, to work in two ways; play "fast", or "slow" (sustain, holding key or keys). great.
EDIT: i am a sucker for different approach, granular/spectral (in not a granular sound, although... it is indeed more "spectral"), with additive and spectral, you have got me...

Anyway Dave I agree with you! I made the fatal mistake if buying a Synth on peoples opinions and really still regret it to this day!

If you go back ten years to the early Zebra 2 threads. Many people were saying Audjoo Helix and Loomer Aspect are better than Zebra. Funny thing is nobody talks about those other synths any more and yet Zebra 2 here is still here. Loomer Aspect has aged a little better. But Helix is truly a product of its time, definitely sounds like a mid 2000s synth plugin.

Zebra after loving Zebralette for many years; loving its sound over every other synth
