I think it's the summing of the transient of the waveform (waveform is set to reset ) and the resonant peaks

When smooth attacks is turned off , in combination with a high resonant diva filter( MMF, 4 pole , low pass) , this can result in some loud spikes at the begining of the sound

From what I recall, Zebra does not have a compressor; maybe I am wrong. Might a limiter/compressor plugin like Presswerk help?
