There was a request for this recently, so I made this video to show how you can play drum chromatically over the keyboard in MSF as well as make keysplits. I used drums here, but the same principles could apply to any of the other multisampled drums. I hope you find this useful.
Chromatic drums and percussion in MSF

Chandler,
Somehow missed this the other day. That was super fast. I had managed to work out most of the same steps from the hints you and Vojtech dropped, but nice to have the full process laid out coherently in one place, and good to see alternative takes on how to do some of the basic steps like tuning.
Much appreciated.
Working through your timpani tutorial again and trying to adapt it to creating toms. A bit stuck on what exactly to do with the pitch and filter envelopes to get more of a boingy sound and less of a steady ringing large temple bell sound from the modal filter. Started a thread on it if that sounds like a topic you might have some input on. Will try again this morning to see if if I have better luck just pitch shifting the first harmonic, etc.
Spent much of last night checking out Brazillian Bass artists... basically a mainly synthesized (and obviously largely bass driven) take on Brazilian rhythms. Working on a hybrid sound that has both synthetic and organic percussion where the percussion carries the bassline / chord progression and sometimes even the melody, so the chromatic thing is key. Super frustrating having drives full of drum sounds that are so difficult to use for this purpose, so shifting as much of that workflow over to melda as possible, and trying to replace some of the sounds with physical modeling if I can get those dialed in.
Thanks, and the tut is fantastic as always.

I'll see what I can do, but I'm not sure if I can do it and it might take a while. I remember experimenting with it before, but I must not have succeeded because I never made a device or preset for it. The snare and Timpani took a while to figure out, so I imagine it's possible to do, but I don't know the trick yet. I'll give it a try.
