Hive 2.1 public beta 01 revision 10837

I'm curious what others think about something.
I frequently run out of mod slots in the Matrix in Hive... So I am advocating for Matrix C to be added in 2.1 cause who knows when there might be another update with Uhbik, Z3 etc in the works.
Hive continues to be updated with more parameters and mod sources (30 plus mod sources now). There are now a handful of matrix only parameters (for example filter stereo spread just added with 2.1 beta) that even just set to a value and not modulated still uses up a mod slot. But with all the additions, the Mod Matrix has not expanded to accommodate them. It is the same Mod Matrix (in terms of available slots) as when Hive was much simpler.
Now with the new filter types with more parameters plus stereo spread, I have even more useful parameters to modulate. I often will add 4-7 targets modulated by velocity... another set with some subtle randomness... aftertouch and keytracking can have a fair number as well. Right there I have used up the Matrix and have not even touched the LFO's, Env's, Shape Sequencers, Function Generators, nor done anything with modulators modulating other modulators or other esoteric stuff.
I'd like to know if others are frequently hitting the mod slot limit as well...

I actually just talked to someone about this. Hive is in this weird in between spot. It's supposed to be simple and fun, and it is, but it also has all these cool features that would be amazing in a more complex synth.
That synth is going to be Zebra, for sure, but it would still be nice to see Hive's full potential. Hive is in a sense too good for its own sake in many areas

I don't like the "Pos" knob in the WT window. Nice idea but it's an eyesore imo.

and thanks - super-thanks for the cool update!
those new ringing-physicalmodelling-y filters are wonderful!
something irritating:
the mac download says: "Hive_21_beta_10837_Mac.zip"
so far as expected
unzipping it results in a folder called: "Hive_10837_Mac"
which contains "Hive 2.0.1 Installer.pkg"
v2.0.1 ???
and the finder info tells me "Hive v2.0.1"
and the plugin windows (inside the DAW) says v2.0.1

kinda irritating....

are there any presets highlighting the new features ?
showing whats possible; all those news bells and whistles...
looking in the presetbrowser, but can't find anything specific....or any tags...

Apparently there were going to be some presets from an, as of today, still unreleased film. But that portion of the project has been delayed due to Covid, as films aren't really being released or are wildly delayed, so we got a version without the movie presets.muki wrote: Fri Jan 22, 2021 1:55 am ...and:

Still, wouldn't mind some new ones to show off whatever a reverb filter is and the like.

Yeah, I'm not really feeling that one either. Not from an aesthetic perspective.Sound Author wrote: Fri Jan 22, 2021 12:06 am I don't like the "Pos" knob in the WT window. Nice idea but it's an eyesore imo.
Would it be possible to keep the feature and hide the knob overlay? Example: drag up/down changes WT position, and drag left/right changes WT Multi Position (when applicable). Throw it in the manual as a tip, and this way we can all look like the cool kids knowing about the hidden workflow feature.

Hi Urs awesome update.. are the differant filter types still tied to the engine types or can we now use any filter with any engine!?Urs wrote: Thu Jan 21, 2021 2:14 pmExisting presets and preset banks work normally. We're just adding a tool that makes installation easier, but once installed is identical to existing presets and stuff.Biome_Digital wrote: Thu Jan 21, 2021 2:04 pm this is great news. Hive is such a good synth. RE: Sound set installer support - is there any special format sound banks need to be saved in for this/will our existing presets work?
(Ah, TUC beat me to it... ok)
