Neither is going to happen.

As I posted elsewhere, I get seasick easily. I have no desire to buy a yacht.

I'm sceptical about the future of NI. Why sell a functioning company to an investor? Apparently, the founders just want to retire and live a good life with the millions they have earned.
For NI, this will certainly mean some changes, that unprofitable areas will be closed and they will only focus on what brings the most profit. IMO investors are not interested in innovation, but only in making as much profit as possible.

Absolutely. No need to sell out for that.

Change is coming to NI, of that we can be sure. But who knows, it may be a good thing. Finally I may get the S88 with an machine controller integrated and faders :D
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Services are better than products when it is about the cash flow. Even Cars will be a service in some years.

That was just a matter of time. I curious about the terms of usage and what you may not do (eg driving too fast , sampling or hatespeech).

But OK - we can expect a new order on the streets and good investor perspectives :|

What I don't understand. NI is a big player, had good products a long time and a lot of smart people. Even the hardware is really good. Kontakt was by far the leading sampler and traktor was the best digital dj systems years ago and now there are rumors that will sell the dj division .

What did go wrong?

It's always crucial to be economical, especially for a company of a certain size. To put things in perspective though, NI is still only as big as 3 or 4 mid tier companies in my 10k citizen one horse town though. And, apart from that, we will really have to see what is happening now. I won't put my money on anything which has been proposed in this thread so far. And, frankly, there are probably better places to discuss this than in a forum full of musicians, who frankly have no idea about running a business of that size. None of us really.

Which is why investors invest and don't get their hands dirty with all that unnecessary creative stuff...make money, sip another Moscow Mule :D

It's the current hype for MBAs. NI has lots of users. Kontakt is used for lots of sampling libraries. My guess is their vision is that all samples, vsts and effects are sold on their market place with NI getting a small cut on each transaction. Basically like steam for games or amazon for ebooks. It's a lot cheaper than developing new products and they already have a big userbase.
