I can onlly assume that it is not preassigned due to the incredible flexibility of FL Studio. Yes, you can route many channels to the same track if they all use the same FX, EQ etc but as you say that would make monitoring each of the channels difficult. The Fruity send effect gives you a lot of flexibility. You can also record each track to separate WAV files simultaneously, so you could record the signal at different states (unprocessed, with FX, with more FX, with less FX...).
I DO agree with anyone who complains about the size of things in FLS. I wish Image Line would listen to all the complaints about this but from what I gather we won't be seeing any changes in the near future (maybe it's on the books for the famous September 2069 upgrade).
