8th track from my upcoming CD "Time Travelers II"

Lyrics:

Tower Of London

On the river Thames
There she stood
Founded in 1066

It was her majesty's royal palace
So the elite could get out of the sticks

Tower of London
There is just none like you anywhere
Tower of London
Too bad we can't see you in the foggy air
But we know you're always standing
I'm coming in for a landing
Coming to see
My baby and me
Tower of London

Used as a prison
For many years
History's been kind to her

It's stood the test of time to this day
And it's created one heck of a stir

Repeat Chorus

Instrumental Break

Repeat Pre Chorus 2

wagtunes wrote: Sat Jan 23, 2021 3:16 am So yes, Jeff Lynne has been a huge influence on me since the early 70s. Recently, I did a cover of "Can't Get It Out Of My Head." Not sure if you heard it or not. If not, here it is.
If I had to choose my favourite artist, it would be Jeff Lynne. I think he's the most underrated song writer in the past 50 years.
A great producer too.

Thanks. Appreciate the kind words. Honestly, I don't like my voice on this one. A little high for me.

9th track from my upcoming CD "Time Travelers II"

Lyrics:

Genghis Kahn

Born in 1158
Boy that guy was great
Founder of the Mongol empire
Came to power by
Uniting many tribes
They didn't care the dirt bag was a liar

Cause when he went to war
He beat his chest some more
Genghis really was a piece of work
Left ruin in his wake
The world was his to take
And everybody knew he was a jerk

Genghis Kahn (Genghis Kahn)
Genghis Kahn (Genghis Kahn)
Destruction was this warrior's middle name
Genghis Kahn (Genghis Kahn)
Genghis Kahn (Genghis Kahn)
Crack your skull to him it's all the same

Just before he died
Defeated Western Xia
Was buried in an unmarked grave
But even to this day
We remember what they say
As we pray for his soul to save

Repeat Chorus

Hopefully there'll never be another one like him
Cause when he roamed the land all the lights went dim

Instrumental Break

Repeat Chorus

wagtunes,
Thank you for the reviews! Now your music: "Mannequin": I'm pretty sure I reviewed this before, I remember the topic. Nice melodies all around. Nice synths. Vocaloid vocals work well on this: artificial vocals for an artificial human. Sounds very 80's. Trippy intro drums. I like it! :)

wagtunes,
Now listening to "Modern Talking": vocals sound slightly artificial (because of effects?), not sure if they are real or not; I think they are real. It does not sound like wags singing.....is it? Either way vocals are good. Per usual, very nice melodies all around. Everything instrumental is nice. I like this song too! :)

10th track from my upcoming CD "Time Travelers II"

Lyrics:

The Ottoman Empire

It began around 1299
By the Turkish tribal leader Osman
A figure of obscure origins
From whom the name Ottoman derives

Early followers they were renegades
Many had converted to Islam
Conquered towns along the Sakarya River
From there they grew and grew

And they reigned for over 600 years
And they reigned for over 6 billion tears
But it finally came to an end

11th track from my upcoming CD "Time Travelers II"

Lyrics:

The Trial Of Joan Of Arc

She was only 19 when she died
But when she did many cried
She was a heroine of France
It wasn't by chance

She turned the Anglo-French conflict into a religious war
Just at a time when they wondered what they were fighting for

But she fired them up
Yes she fired them up
Oh she fired them up
And they fought on

Instrumental Break

In fourteen thirty one she was brought up on charges
She was found guilty and burned at the stake
But in fourteen fifty six when they looked back
They found they had made a mistake

She was made a martyr
She was made a saint
She'll go down in history
One without complaint

A surprisingly upbeat and jolly tune for Genghis Khan!
I actually liked Ottoman the best. Nice composition with an interesting ending segment.

Genghis was done as a total goof. Had a blast. Thanks for the listen. We're getting close to the end of this CD.

I've already done an 80s CD. In fact, it was a double CD.
